We received a heartwarming story that we would like to share with you all…

Lily Anderson is 13 years old, and is due to go into her second year at Denny High School after the summer holidays. Lily is a passionate dancer, being a member of Denny High School’s Dance Academy, as well as performing with Infusion Dance Company.

Lily has decided to raise funds for the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) here at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in memory of her Gramps, who was recently cared for in this unit during his final week. The compassion and kindness of the staff within the AAU has made such a huge difference to Lily’s entire family through this difficult time. To show her gratitude and give something back, Lily is taking on the challenge of walking the entire West Highland Way (96 miles) from Milngavie to Fort William, immediately followed by climbing Ben Nevis this July!

Lily has an initial target of £500 and has already raised over £400 through her just giving page which you can donate to here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lily-anderson-whw-bn

This is a meaningful challenge for Lily, not just as a fundraiser, but as a personal tribute to her Gramps. The team here at Radio Royal wishes Lily all the best of luck in completing her fundraiser! She is truly a superstar! ⭐️

On Friday 20th June, Radio Royal will be hosting a show dedicated to International Day 2025! ❤️🎙️

What is International Day?
Did you know that Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a research-active hospital?! There are currently 114 studies running across NHS FV, including 2 commercial trials as well as more in the works. These studies cover wide varieties of specialities including oncology research in breast, colorectal, and haematology, while non-cancer specialities include critical care, diabeties, cardiology, and women’s health to name a few.

Evidence has shown that clinically research-active hospitals provide:
📍Lower mortality rates, better treatments, and outcomes for patients
📍Improved quality of care
📍Development of new and more cost-effective treatments
📍High job satisfaction and retention of staff

International Day is held on Friday 20th June to celebrate all those participating in, supporting, and undertaking research by wearing something red! ❤️ The Clinical Research team will be wearing red to show awareness and appreciation for the patients and staff who make research possible within the Forth Valley.

We ask that you show your support by joining the team in wearing something red this Friday in support!

This show will air between 14:00-16:00 and will be hosted by Ryan Miller, Ryan Brooks, as well as up-and-coming presenters Darcy and David!
