In tribute to those brave souls who risked all in 1944.

Remembered in this haunting rendition byJim Redford of ‘The Shores of Normandy’ performed almost 10 years ago.

Veteran of the Normandy invasion, Jim Radford sings his own composition in remembrance of his crew mates and the thousands more who died on D-Day.

Whispers of Valor By Ian Driver

Upon the shores of Normandy, the brave did land,
In early morn, 'neath Heaven's gray and somber band.
The sea, it roared a dreadful tune,
As soldiers marched, beneath the waning moon.

They came as liberators, through the tide,
With hearts of courage, where fear could not reside.
The sand beneath their feet, a hallowed ground,
Where echoes of the free, would soon resound.

The air was thick with promise and with pain,
For freedom's cost, is never borne in vain.
Each step was heavy, laden with their fate,
As they moved forward, through the storm's fierce gate.

The cliffs stood tall, like sentinels of old,
Guarding secrets, in their earthen hold.
But on this day, the brave would dare to climb,
To write a new chapter, in the annals of time.

The battle raged, a symphony of will,
As heroes fell, and the earth stood still.
Yet from the chaos, arose a mighty cry,
For in their hearts, their spirit would not die.

They fought for peace, for justice, and for right,
A beacon in the darkest hour of night.
And when the dawn broke, clear and true,
The world awoke, to a horizon anew.

So let us remember, those who paid the price,
Who offered up, their very lives' sacrifice.
For on D-Day's shores, they did prevail,
And in their wake, left freedom's tale.

Lest we forget, the whispers of valor,
Carried on the wind, across the water.
For they live on, in the waves that kiss the sand,
The guardians of liberty, in a grateful land.
