On Sunday, 10th May, Heycroft, Trevanion Rd, Wadebridge PL27 7NZ is opening for the National Garden Scheme, 1-5pm.

This compact, town centre garden is a plantsperson's paradise with lots of interesting and unusual specimens. The wisteria is currently the star of the show!

Did you know we run fantastic competitions in Wadebridge Life magazine?

Throughout the year, we team up with local businesses to bring exciting prizes to lucky readers.

In the spring issue, we ran a competition with Pencarrow House and Gardens to win a day out for four people, including a guided tour of the house, entry to the gardens and a cream tea in the Peacock Cafe.

Make sure to check your quarterly Wadebridge Life magazine or head to https://www.life-media.co.uk/competitions to see our competitions.

This Wednesday, 6th May, a special charity event will take place at The Lost Lakes of Lanjeth, St Austell, 2pm-5pm.

The event will include a private guided tour and talk, welcome drinks and a cream tea for just £18. Money raised goes to a range of nursing and healthcare charities.

A limited number of tickets are available for an exclusive talk and guided tour by one of the owners.

Designated as a County Wildlife Site stretching to 13.5 acres, the Nursery and Water Gardens include 130 ponds and lakes set within heathland full of significant wildlife. Following purchase in 2022, restoration has uncovered water plants and marginals which thrive in the boggy site.

The nursery’s core values of Community, Accessibility, Sustainability and Tranquillity will be fully explored as the tour progresses and wanders round ponds and through ancient woodland.

Traditionally, May Day celebrates the coming of summer and, historically, featured feasts and dancing in towns and villages, as well as appointing two people in the community to lead the celebrations as ‘Lord’ and ‘Lady’.

Moving into the Victorian era, only one girl would be selected as the ‘May Queen’, dressed in all-white with a flower crown placed upon her head.

Tell us how you're celebrating May Day! Any local events, dances, or perhaps a celebration at home with neighbours?

This is one for anyone who identifies as being shy or introverted, or feels drawn to quieter environments💛

Quiet Connections CIC, a Cornish organisation that runs meet-ups in various towns across the county, including Wadebridge, is running HushFest, Cornwall's first festival of quietness, which opens on Saturday 4th July.

As part of the festival, there will be an installation called Quiet Hearts: A Portrait of Our Inner Worlds, and you are invited to take part!

The installation will be made up of handmade hearts. The hearts can be made in your own way, with whatever materials and colours you wish to use.

A free-to-attend Quiet Hearts-making gathering will be held on Saturday, 23rd May at Create Contemporary Crafts Hub in Camborne (11am-1pm).
