Can you find space in your heart for this beautiful girl?

Issy the young Cane Corso came to K9 Crusaders Dog Welfare in Cornwall after being abandoned at a vet with a severe case of cherry eye and entropion. When she first arrived, she was in pain and distress, and has since spent more than a year in care, undergoing multiple surgeries to get her back to health.

Despite this difficult start, Issy remains gentle, affectionate and resilient.

K9 Crusaders Dog Welfare is now hoping to find Issy a loving home in a strong and stable environment, offering patience, commitment, routine and lots of affection for this sweet dog.

Those interested in adopting Issy can complete the rehoming form on the K9 Crusaders website:https://www.caninecrusaders.org.uk/contact-form-wanting-to-rehome-a-dog/

You may remember last year we ran an article on Wendy Eustice, receptionist at Wadebridge Osteopaths, who transformed into a 'living Christmas tree' for charity.

Well, this year she's taken on a new festive fundraising challenge, dressing up as Rudolph for Cornwall Hospice Care.

Wendy has managed to smash her initial target of £1,070 - the cost of 24 hours' care for one patient at Cornwall Hospice Care - and has now achieved more than £4,000. The fundraiser closes today, but you can still donate by popping into Wadebridge Osteopaths.

Have you ever wondered why we associate certain foods, animals and plants with Christmas?

Did you know mince pies were once oblong-shaped pies covered with virtually inedible pastry and filled with meat? Or that holly was thought to possess healing powers? Or that before the popular pantomimes came the Mummers' Plays?

For your winter magazine, we caught up with local photographer Debbie Bate, who, when she's not strolling the nearby beaches to find her latest snapshot, can be found at community events and celebrations to capture special moments in the town.

Anyone recognise this adorable little face?!

Emma from The John Betjeman Centre - Concern Wadebridge gave us a fascinating insight into what it was like to be a child at Christmas in the 1980s! From spending pocket money at Bricknells and Jennie's Toy Store, to getting her very first Bananarama cassette tape from Record Select and Doc Martens from J Shoes - there's always been so much choice thanks to the town's wide variety of independent shops.

What are your fondest Christmas memories?

The magic of Christmas can come in many different forms, from the excitement of the very first mince pie of the season and the glow of the Christmas tree, to events that allow us to gather with our community.

Egloshayle Church has some wonderful services and events coming up over the festive season, from carol services to their annual live nativity service. We are lucky to have been given permission by Wadebridge Museum to share these images of the nativity services in 1974 and 2017 - a much-loved community tradition.

You can find these pictures, plus other local memories, on pages 30 & 31 of your winter Wadebridge Life magazine.

Our amazing Claire Pearce recently returned from an incredible two-week adventure in India. In the months leading up to the trip, she worked hard to raise lots of money to support her chosen charity, Children's Hospice South West.

This month, she completed her trek across the Himalayan Foothills, supported by an amazing team of walkers on their own fundraising journeys.

Claire said: "It was an amazing experience that definitely challenged me mentally and physically with the higher altitude, steep ascents and descents, and the four seasons in one day, as well as being totally out of my comfort zone.

"I have absolutely put my all into this challenge from the very beginning with planning, fundraising, training and the actual trek. I would do this all over again in a flash knowing the money raised is going to such a worthy cause."

Claire would love to reach £4,000. She is just £124 short, so if you are able to dig deep and send a donation her way by visiting her Just Giving page, Claire would be hugely grateful!
