Today, Jordan Darby is walking from Bodmin to Launceston, aiming to arrive this evening before continuing on to Okehampton tomorrow 👣

He’s taking on an incredible 1,200-mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise awareness and funds for Andy’s Man Club, supporting men’s mental health.

Jordan has faced his own struggles with mental health in the past, and found that getting out into nature and walking made a huge difference. That’s a big part of why he’s doing this – to inspire other men to get outside, talk, and realise they’re not alone.

If you can, please show your support:

Lewannick’s much-loved annual May Day celebrations return today, with events kickstarting at 1pm!

What started as a small group of children doing some dancing over 30 years ago, is now a full afternoon of fun and games, attended by hundreds each year.

This year's event is set to feature traditional maypole dancing, a craft and produce market, barbecue, grand draw, and lots of entertainment.

Traditionally, May Day celebrates the coming of summer and, historically, featured feasts and dancing in towns and villages, as well as appointing two people in the community to lead the celebrations as ‘Lord’ and ‘Lady’. Moving into the Victorian era, only one girl would be selected as the ‘May Queen’, dressed in all-white with a flower crown placed upon her head.

So head over to Lewannick and join the celebrations! Happy Bank Holiday!

This Wednesday, 6th May, a special charity event will take place at The Lost Lakes of Lanjeth, St Austell, 2pm-5pm.

The event will include a private guided tour and talk, welcome drinks and a cream tea for just £18. Money raised goes to a range of nursing and healthcare charities.

A limited number of tickets are available for an exclusive talk and guided tour by one of the owners.

Designated as a County Wildlife Site stretching to 13.5 acres, the Nursery and Water Gardens include 130 ponds and lakes set within heathland full of significant wildlife. Following purchase in 2022, restoration has uncovered water plants and marginals which thrive in the boggy site.

The nursery’s core values of Community, Accessibility, Sustainability and Tranquillity will be fully explored as the tour progresses and wanders round ponds and through ancient woodland.
