Can you find space in your heart for this beautiful girl?

Issy the young Cane Corso came to K9 Crusaders Dog Welfare in Cornwall after being abandoned at a vet with a severe case of cherry eye and entropion. When she first arrived, she was in pain and distress, and has since spent more than a year in care, undergoing multiple surgeries to get her back to health.

Despite this difficult start, Issy remains gentle, affectionate and resilient.

K9 Crusaders Dog Welfare is now hoping to find Issy a loving home in a strong and stable environment, offering patience, commitment, routine and lots of affection for this sweet dog.

Those interested in adopting Issy can complete the rehoming form on the K9 Crusaders website:https://www.caninecrusaders.org.uk/contact-form-wanting-to-rehome-a-dog/

Winter can be long, so enjoying the little moments with your community, family and friends is really important. Board games around the fire, attending local carol concerts, and popping along to events are wonderful ways to warm those chilly evenings and make the most of the season.

Don't forget! Free Saturday parking in Launceston's Westgate Street multi-storey car park starts tomorrow!

Thanks to Launceston Town Council, parking will be free in this car park on Saturdays in December - a great opportunity to support the town's shops in the run-up to Christmas!

Have you ever wondered why we associate certain foods, animals and plants with Christmas?

Did you know mince pies were once oblong-shaped pies covered with virtually inedible pastry and filled with meat? Or that holly was thought to possess healing powers? Or that before the popular pantomimes came the Mummers' Plays?

We take a fascinating look at the origins of some of the winter symbols we hold dear to us today: https://www.life-media.co.uk/news/winter-symbols

LAUNCESTON COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS LUNCH - UPDATE

We have an exciting update to share with you from the Community Christmas Lunch team!

This year's lunch will be held at St Stephen's Church Hall on Christmas Day. Booking is essential, and guests should arrive from 12.30pm for lunch at 1pm. Anyone who cannot attend in person but would like a lunch, will have theirs delivered on Christmas Eve.

There will be Christmas carols on the day too - how festive!

This event just shows how amazing our community really is. If you are on your own at Christmas, are struggling financially or physically, or unable to afford a Christmas meal, Launceston's Community Christmas Lunch is ready to welcome you with open arms.

To book your spot, or a spot for someone who would like to attend, please email Evie on [email protected] or call 07815 651054 (or 01566 776256, but there is no answer phone).

Altarnun has been getting ready for their very own village lights switch-on this Saturday, 6th December! It's a real community effort, from the funding to the installation of the lights.

We can't wait to see this year's beautiful display!

For your winter magazine, we had a chat with Launceston Camera Club, who can often be found capturing both those buoyant community celebrations, and the quieter, softer moments that many of us might miss...

From frosty fields and the icy pavements of the Town Square, to snow adorning the edges of Launceston's ancient castle, we received some truly wonderful photos from members of Launceston Camera Club for use in the winter issue of Launceston Life, including the front cover. You may also notice we have tried to use as many as we can on our social media too!

The club is keen to nurture local talent, displaying work in exhibitions and entering competitions. They're a friendly bunch with a great story to tell. Read more here: https://www.life-media.co.uk/news/spirit-launceston or see pages 14 & 15 of your winter magazine.
