Happy Halloween, Bodmin! 👻🎃

Are you taking your little ones trick or treating tonight? We'd love to see your scary costumes!

If you're participating in the fun tonight, Devon & Cornwall Police has issued some advice to ensure that everyone in the community can have a safe and stress-free evening.

🎃 Be mindful of those who may not wish to be disturbed on Halloween. Try and stick to houses that have decorated for the occasion - this usually indicates they may have some treats for your ghostly brood!

👻 Stick to the areas that you know. It's more fun with familiar faces!

❌ If you don't wish to participate and feel worried or concerned about trick or treaters stopping by, Devon & Cornwall Police has a special poster that can be printed out and placed on your front door or window to deter visitors, available here: https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/halloween?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=Orlo&utm_content=Halloween+and+Fireworks+2025

Please join us in wishing Claire luck as she prepares to head off on an incredible adventure tomorrow.

She will be flying across the world to walk the Himalayan Foothills, in aid of Children's Hospice South West.

Claire has spent many months training along Cornwall's coastline, moors and trails, as well as raising as much as possible for CHSW. She is grateful to readers, clients, friends and local businesses who have donated or supported her along the way.

She will be joined by her mini mascot Yeti on her travels, given to her by her main sponsor Charlie Bears in Launceston.

If you would like to donate, head to Claire's Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/claire-pearce-1721385784870?msockid=37be0d0b1a7166bd03491b571b56673c

Good luck Claire! ⭐️

Autumn traditions: Allantide and Halloween

While we may think of Halloween as just another excuse to dress up and eat many, many bags of sweets, it actually stems back to ancient traditions passed down through the ages.

Tell us something that has brought you joy this week...

Perhaps it was bumping into a friend and spontaneously going for coffee, or a positive chat had with a local business owner. Maybe a shop window display made you smile, or someone showed you kindness when you most needed it.

Let us know how your community made you smile recently.
