Three days. Three countries. Two 4,000m summits. At just 17 years old, Finn is believed to be the first teenager from Cornwall to successfully summit two 4,000m mountains in just three days.

After months of training, fundraising and preparation, Finn travelled to the Alps with one goal: to climb Mont Blanc in aid of HighGround Charity.

Sadly, an unprecedented heatwave, melting glaciers and a number of fatalities on the mountain meant the guides made the difficult but absolutely necessary decision to withdraw all climbers. It was a huge disappointment, but safety had to come first.

Rather than heading home, Finn embraced a new challenge.

Travelling with people he'd never met before and flying abroad on his own for the first time, he successfully summited Gran Paradiso (4,061m) – the highest mountain entirely within Italy – before going on to climb Weissmies (4,017m) in Switzerland. Two 4,000m peaks, across three countries, in just three days.

Reflecting on the experience, Finn said:
"The lessons I learnt from the professionals are ones I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. This climb has opened doors for my future that I never imagined, and to summit not one, but two 4,000m peaks in three days after Mont Blanc was cancelled was an incredible feeling."

Finn has now raised an amazing £4,211.26 towards his £5,000 target for HighGround Charity, supporting veterans, reservists and service leavers as they transition into civilian life.

If you'd like to help him reach the finish line, you can donate here:

And to smash the target a date for your diaries: 31st October Prize Bingo fund raiser at Eagle House Hotel Launceston! If you would like more details contact Sally at Freckles in town, or message her: 07729 108223

If you are a local business and would like to donate a prize please also contact Sally.
Congratulations, Finn.
Sometimes the greatest achievement isn't the summit you planned, but how you respond when the mountain changes the journey.

Cornwall is incredibly proud of you.

This Wednesday, 6th May, a special charity event will take place at The Lost Lakes of Lanjeth, St Austell, 2pm-5pm.

The event will include a private guided tour and talk, welcome drinks and a cream tea for just £18. Money raised goes to a range of nursing and healthcare charities.

A limited number of tickets are available for an exclusive talk and guided tour by one of the owners.

Designated as a County Wildlife Site stretching to 13.5 acres, the Nursery and Water Gardens include 130 ponds and lakes set within heathland full of significant wildlife. Following purchase in 2022, restoration has uncovered water plants and marginals which thrive in the boggy site.

The nursery’s core values of Community, Accessibility, Sustainability and Tranquillity will be fully explored as the tour progresses and wanders round ponds and through ancient woodland.
