One of the most iconic models presented in Italy after the war is certainly the Aurelia, the first car in the world to use a V6 engine.
Designed during the Second World War and presented at the 1950 Turin Motor Show, the Aurelia B10 was powered by a 60 ° V6 engine, entirely made of aluminum, of 1,754 cc that used a camshaft distribution system. central and overhead valves controlled by short rockers instead of the traditional overhead camshaft of the Lancia tradition.
An example of advanced monocoque construction design, the Aurelia retained the telescopic telescopic front suspension of the Lancia, first seen on the Lambda, but used a new diagonal arm system for the rear suspension, another first to world level. The transmission was also of an unconventional type with the two-piece transmission shaft combined, with a transaxle system, with the single gearbox and differential unit positioned at the rear, on which the inboard brakes were mounted.
The other B50 chassis are used by almost all the major Italian coachbuilders (Alemanno, Balbo, Boneschi, Canta, Ghia, Pininfarina, Stabilimenti Farina, Vignale) to create their respective custom-built models.
The official numbering of the B50s goes from n. 1001 to 1485 (1950 to 1952).

This model is presented in a rare coupé body made by the Farina factory in Turin, the family business where the master Battista 'Pinin' Farina learned his trade.

Swedish championship winner 1967 with Reine Wisell (1970-72 Lotus F1 driver)

Swedish ace Picko Troberg bought this BT18 for the 1966 season and he finished second the swedish Formula 3 championship. He also made a try in Monte Carlo during the season, where he finished 9th in the prestigious race.

Before the 1967 season he sold the car to upcoming youngster Reine Wisell, who won the championship in 67 with Troberg again in second place! Wisell of course later was destined for greater things, as he became a Lotus Formula 1 driver in 1970.

The car competed a couple more seasons in Sweden before it was retired.

After a dismal start which saw the team fail to score a single championship point in the first half of the season, numerous improvements to the car and tyre development by Goodyear enabled Jordan to climb back into the top teams.

At the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix, the team scored a historic first victory with Hill, with Schumacher finishing behind him in second place.

The team finished fourth in the Constructors' Championship, one ahead of Benetton.

Ferrari’s new V12 ‘big banger’ showed promise during 1950, the first year of the Formula 1 World Championship, before really coming into its own in 1951, Argentinian Froilan Gonzales securing the team’s first F1 victory in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone that year. But with the World Drivers’ Championship switching to Formula 2 rules for 1952, Ferrari had no choice but to start afresh with an entirely new design.

The Italian firm were in a stronger position than most of their rivals, having been active in Formula 2 since 1948. Chief engineer Aurelio Lampredi drew up a new four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that would prove a useful starting point for the new Formula 1 regulations, to be adopted from 1954. First tested in the summer of 1951, the Tipo 500’s new engine produced 165bhp and was installed in a tubular steel ladder frame featuring independent front and De Dion rear suspension, around which was wrapped a scaled down version of the 4.5-liter car’s body. Maximum output was increased to 180bhp for the 1952 season and the 500 F2 would turn out to be the class of the field, Alberto Ascari securing six Grand Prix victories on his way to the World Championship, Ferrari’s first. It was much the same story in 1953, Ascari securing back-to-back Championships for the Maranello team. Although the Tipo 500 F2 did not win its last race, the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 1953, victory going to Juan Manuel Fangio’s Maserati, it retired having won 30 out of 33 races, making it just about the most successful Ferrari single-seater of all time.

In 1965 Porsche launched the 912 model, a cheaper and at the same time much less powerful version of the 911, virtually identical aesthetically and technically.
At the rear, traction was entrusted to the 1.6-liter four-cylinder flat engine.
The purpose was to use it on the 912, the power had been reduced from 95 to 90 hp at 5,800 rpm, for more pickup and greater stability. Transmission with 4-speed manual gearbox.
Compared to its older sister, the 912 retained the coupé bodywork (since 1966 also Targa) and the entire mechanics, only the engine is different, this model is fitted with an air-cooled 4-cylinder boxer of 1584 cm³. The performances were decidedly modest, but the contained consumptions compensated the lower motorization.
Thanks to the substantial aesthetic identity with the older 6-cylinder sister and the significantly lower list price, the 912 enjoyed great commercial success, especially in the United States.
Its production ceased at the end of 1969 to make way for the 914, although in 1976 a small series of 912 E was produced for the North American market with a 4-cylinder 2-liter boxer engine (of Volkswagen origin) with 86 HP injection.

The Fiat Abarth 1000 Bialbero, more than others, highlights Carlo Abarth's skill in processing.
It is in fact a real racing car: the chassis and most of the mechanics are those of the Fiat 600, the popular small car of 1955.
The victories achieved in 1961 allowed Abarth to win the FIA GT Cup (a sort of Championship
World Championship for Gran Turismo cars) for Division II (up to 700 cc) and III (up to 1,000 cc).
A result of great prestige, obtained with cars that had very little in common with the production model from which they were originally derived.
The technical capabilities of the Abarth had brought the starting construction scheme to an unimaginable development a few years earlier, drawing a real racing car from a small car.

The Lancia Flaminia handed down the tradition of the House of calling the models after the main Roman roads, in this case, the reference was to the Via Flaminia that leads from Rome to Rimini.
This model was the flagship of Lancia production between the 60s and 70s.
The Flaminia was produced in sedan and coupé versions, the cabriolet version was built by the Touring body.
In addition to the Pininfarina, the prestigious Milanese bodywork Touring Superleggera, from 1959, also created the Gran Turismo variants of the Flaminia: the GT, GTL and Convertible. Built in aluminum, they offered a more youthful look and departed from the original Pininfarina proposal that embodied the classic commendatore coupé.

This 1964 AC Cobra was originally built as a show chassis for Shelby American in order to showcase the model’s underpinnings. It was sent in 1965 to Cal Automotive, a Shelby subcontractor, where a Ford T-bucket body was installed. The car was then registered for street use, and later in the mid-1990s was fitted with a hand-formed aluminum Cobra body by Kimmins Custom Fabrication of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. After being raced in the late-1990s, it received a refresh and was assigned chassis number COB5998. The current owner acquired the car in 2011 and subsequently commissioned Cobra Automotive of Wallingford, Connecticut to perform a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment.

At the time of its debut in 2003, the Gallardo was positioned right below the Murcilago, the top model of the Sant’Agata Bolognese era.
Compared to the top model, however, the Gallardo is more manageable and with wider rear visibility and is proposed to the market as a sports car that can be used more easily in city traffic and, in general, easier to drive than the Murcielago.
The Gallardo is equipped with a 500 hp Lamborghini V10 engine, which was subsequently raised to 520 hp with the arrival of the Spider version and permanent all-wheel drive with central viscous joint (Viscous Traction) which it shares with its older sister Murciélago.
On the other hand, Lamborghini's primary objective was clear from the start: to undermine the Ferrari "360 Modena", both in terms of performance and ease of use.

PORSCHE 911 GT3 RS

The GT3 RS adopts the 4.0-liter, 500-hp engine of the previous model but, for the first time, combined with the seven-speed PDK gearbox, with levers on the steering wheel.
Historically, the RS model redefines new standards in terms of structure and aerodynamics: the bonnet and luggage compartment are made of carbon fiber, while the roof, particularly important for the car's center of gravity, is even made of magnesium.
Also very particular are the ventilation slats of the wheel arches on the front fenders, which, as in race cars, optimize the downforce on the front axle.
The chassis, designed for maximum dynamics, benefits from the new steering rear axle and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, with fully variable self-locking rear differential.

FIAT ABARTH 1000 SP

The Fiat Abarth 1000 SP barchetta is a racing car built in 50 road specimens, born to compete in the category up to 1000cc.
Designed by Engineer Mario Colucci, it was presented in April 1966 and was developed starting from the Fiat 850 Coupé, radically revised from the chassis to the mechanics.
The very light tubular steel frame and the fiberglass bodywork limited the overall weight to just 480kg, while the engine was still that of the Fiat 600d, from which Abarth had started years earlier, which adequately elaborated reached 105hp, pushing the 1000 Sp at a maximum speed of 230km / h.
Last detail, not entirely taken for granted today: the Fiat Abarth 1000SP is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox
