Hey everyone. Thought it’s about time for another catch up.

It’s been a few months since I last posted, and I’ve performed more than 100 care home silent discos over the summer, spreading the silent disco love far and wide across Yorkshire. I’m still humbled by the reactions I see in people, the long lost voices finding long lost lyrics, the chair bound person who gets up for a little bop, the smiling, the eye contact, the memories recalled. Musical magic. I have a packed diary for the rest of 2025, with a mammoth 34 events already booked in for December. If you’re interested, my diary is open for 2026…

In other musical news I have had an absolutely amazing summer drumming with the rhythmical powerhouse that is the band Drum Machine. My debut live performance being at Bearded Theory festival in Derbyshire in May, where we opened up the dance tent, and later we performed to roughly 3000 people on the Meadow stage. This also led to performances with Drum Machine at The Beat-Herder Festival, where we opened the Main Stage, and played in the rain and the mud in The Ring. Then wrapped up the summer festivals with a weekend playing at Deer Shed Festival. Amazing fun. This weekend I am drumming with Drum Machine at The Rugby World Cup Quarter Final in Bristol, for Canada v Australia, and then England v Scotland. I’m also performing at the Semi-finals in Bristol next weekend, and then drumming at THE FINAL at Twickenham on 27th September! 82,000 crowd expected. A little nervous. Keep an eye out for me on the TV, I’ll be in a bright pink t-shirt drumming on the back row. Pete 🎧🥁

This week has been a fun musical week of spreading the silent disco good vibes around Yorkshire. Kicking off with a sunny rock & roll silent disco with the lovely folks at Ashfield EPH in Skipton, followed by a warm welcome back at Hepworth House in Wakefield for more silent disco fun and games, with tonnes of singing and smiling all over the home. Moving on to Vida Court in Harrogate for some serious Disco and Motown at the silent disco on Wednesday. Shapes were thrown and dance moves were laid down. Groovy baby!

A very hot, and very loud rehearsal with the drumming band i’m in called Drum Machine pumped me up and recharged my musical mojo mid week, as the band prepare for a summer of music festival performances. I performed my festival debut recently with Drum Machine at Bearded Theory festival in Derbyshire late May. We performed in front of around 3000 people. It was such an amazing experience. I’ll do a separate post about that maybe.

Wrapping up a fine week I had loads of fun DJing the 3 channel silent discos at the Horsforth Beer & Music Festival on Saturday evening in St. Margaret’s Church. 2 sessions, 1 very busy family friendly 3 channel silent disco with the help of DJ Chris Hall, then a later adults only session, with way better music obviously. Last song of the silent disco? Bohemian Rhapsody of course. Sounded great being belted out in such a lovely building. Great week.

Hello everyone.

Apologies that I haven’t posted in such a while. Real life gets in the way of social media, and I think it should. I’ve been less active for various reasons, but feel I’m ready to provide you a little more content on what I’m doing musically these days, if you’re interested.

Since I last posted here I’ve performed over 100 care home silent discos, the busiest I’ve been for a while. My diary is filling up nicely, and I’m playing regular monthly events at several homes. Over the past 6 months I’ve witnessed some of the most amazing reactions during my events. The smiles, the dancing, the singing, the occasional tears, the laughter, all down to the power of the music. I feel music is so incredibly important in all stages of life, and I listen to as much as I can. I’ve been spending a lot of time behind the scenes curating playlists, rediscovering golden oldies, trying to find that one song that might help somebody remember a long lost love, or for 3 minutes feel like they’re 16 again. I love my job.

When I perform my events I try to play with a smile on my face, a twinkle in my eye, and offer the occasional gentle banter. A nostalgic musical journey, with songs gently blended to avoid shocks, but maybe a few surprises. Often uptempo to inspire a little dance, followed by more downtempo for a little breather. Overall I aim to make my care home silent discos unique, uplifting experiences. These events often leave me feeling humble on the drive home. Humble for the privilege to choose and play music I feel might bring back a fond memory or two, help belt out a few long forgotten lyrics, and inspire a few dance moves. To me, the kind of things that make me smile are the quiet elderly gent, who overcomes his initial anxiety at wearing these brightly lit headphones, and ends the event shattered after dancing his way around the room, and several ladies. It’s the new resident, perhaps struggling a little to settle in, popping on the headphones, and joining with her new friends enjoying the universal language of music. Magic moments. Connections through music. People who may be having a bit of a crap day, turning the music on, and the world off.

I've been DJing at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home - Barchester Healthcare for over 5 years now, even managing to spread the silent disco love during Covid times, and yesterday I braved the 100 mile round trip through the storm to share the festive silent disco vibes. Such a lovely home to play at. Kim does an AMAZING job entertaining the residents there. Here's to many more hours of silent disco magic to come.

Great afternoon at the Silent Disco for the Horsforth Walk of Art. Some fine young DJs had chance to play tunes to the public, and a few parents quite got into it too!

My 70’s alter ego “DJ Peachy Love” was let loose this week to help the lovely folk at Anchor - Beech Hall celebrate LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 Pride. I attempted to recreate Studio 54 vibes, and we danced and sang along to high energy D.I.S.C.O classics. So much fun!
