We were delighted to take three productions to the last night.

Candour had 4 nominations in 3 categories including best production company.

's won highly commended - the judges praised the incredible cinematography and the sensitive storytelling on such a complex investigation.

We were also so delighted that Debbie Duncan, Jay Slater’s mum, could join us. 's was nominated for the prestigious Social Impact Award.

We never forget why these films matter: for Debbie there is no celebrating. It’s about making sure that Jay’s death and the horrendous social media trolling that happened after he disappeared is not forgotten - and that Debbie can keep up the pressure on social media platforms to be more responsible.

We were thrilled that Channel 4’s was nominated too. Thank you to , for working with us and to and for commissioning us.

During the making of Cause of Death: License to Kill, one message kept coming up:

Your car is tested every year. But the driver might never be again.

The car is safe. The driver isn’t.

This is why we’re backing calls for a Driver MOT — mandatory eyesight testing for drivers.

📢 Have your say in the consultation. Closes tomorrow 11/05/2026.

‘There is a systemic problem where drivers continue to drive, who have defective eyesight, who have been told that they should not be driving.’

We’ve partnered with the Sight Safe campaign to advocate for a rehaul of the current system, which forbids medical practitioners from informing the DLVA when their patients are not fit to drive.

After being assessed by a non-medical professional when beginning to drive, drivers only need to self-certify that their eyesight remains good enough to drive.

That’s up to 53 years without any kind of visual check.

📢 That’s why we’re supporting change. Respond to the consultation:

After suffering unimaginable loss, the Cunningham family started the Sight Safe campaign to call for better visual checks for drivers.

We’ve partnered with them to raise awareness about the current DLVA consultation, which you can respond to here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/introducing-mandatory-eyesight-testing-for-older-drivers

Eyesight loss is often gradual, and easy to miss. But the UK has some of the laxest laws in Europe when it comes to eyesight on the road.

When a UK driver reaches the age of 70, they may renew their licence by completing a DVLA form in which they should certify their visual and medical fitness to drive. There is no requirement for any independent assessment of vision or health by a health professional.

We are one of only three European countries to rely on self-reporting of visual conditions affecting the ability to drive.

But between taking your driving test, and self-reporting at the age of 70, there are no other checks on your eyesight. With the current system, even when medical professions know a driver is unfit for the road, they are unable to report it.

Make your voice heard. Respond to the consultation.

One year on from Groomed: A National Scandal — and what a journey it’s been.

After years of being ignored, these astonishing women have been empowered to share their stories publically for the first time.

They've appeared on national TV and radio. They've spoken at the House of Lords. They've shared their truths and finally been heard.

This film has been recognised by some of the most prestigious awards in TV and journalism, and tonight, we're all at the Amnesty International Awards!

But still, their fight for justice continues.

At Candour, we focus on the person at the centre of a story, not just the headline.

This showreel gives a glimpse into some of our recent work, all guided by the same principles: clarity, empathy, and a deep respect for the people at the centre of each film.

The only legal requirement for a driver’s eyesight is to be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away. This law is nearly 100 years old.

It ignores how vision actually works in real driving conditions — from low light, to blind spots, to reaction time.

In today’s roads, that simply isn’t enough.

This is why we’re backing calls for a Driver MOT — mandatory eyesight testing for drivers.

While making Cause of Death: Licence to Kill, we met families who had suffered unimaginable loss at the hands of drivers who knew they were unfit to drive and yet continued.

Currently, you can pass your driving test at 17 with a brief, non-specialist eye test, and legally drive until 70 without ever proving the quality of your eyesight again. At 70, you self-certify that you are still safe to drive. That’s up to 53 years with no checks.

Your car is tested every year. But the driver might never be again.

'... Class inequality in television is not primarily an access problem, it is a workforce sustainability problem. This reframes the challenge – it’s not about simply widening entry but seeking to rebalance the conditions under which careers are sustained.'

We partnered with Beth Johnson to make What's On?, a research-led short film exploring the experiences of working class television professionals.

Read her new piece in Broadcast to find out more about class inequality manifests in the UK TV industry today.

To combat inequality, we have to ensure people can stay in the industry once they're here
