FIRST LOOK as Northern Lights Leeds returns to Temple Newsam! ✨🎆

Leeds’ very own Winter Wonderland is back for 2025, with a completely new set of dazzling installations!

14 different spectacles are spread across the mile-long trail - with plenty to marvel at! Lily of the Lake is a definite showstopper - a mirrored flower floating on the water, designed by Australian firm Mandylights! 🪷

Each piece of light art has its very own music synchronised to it, like Jungle Tree that has a matching rainforest themed soundtrack! 🌳

It’s not all about the music and festive lights - the Christmas Village returns with plenty of food and drink, there are toasted marshmallows AND plenty of rides and stalls to have a browse through!

This year, there are extra neuro-inclusive sensory slots with reduced capacity and lower audio levels too 🙌

Northern Lights Leeds is open from Friday 21st of November until way after Christmas - the 31st of December! 💫

Inside the new Blank Street in Leeds! 🤩

The viral coffee brand is making its Leeds debut in style - opening the biggest Blank Street shop in the world 🌍🤯

The Albion Street Starbucks has been replaced with two mint green floors selling the drinks that made this brand famous!

Their vibrant matcha line-up includes the viral Blueberry Matcha and White Chocolate Matcha!

This is the 49th Blank Street in the UK, meaning Leeds locals will now be among those trying the new Winter Menu too, featuring the Blondie Matcha and Espresso Martini Latte ☕

Bakery has been chosen as their local pastry supplier too - keeping it proper Leeds 💪

Blank Street opens in the city on Saturday 22nd November!

One of Leeds’ most QUIRKY dining experiences has now opened in a second location!

Estábulo are known for their all-you-can-eat meat, where the waiters walk around the restaurant offering a selection of 15 rodizio meats - like filemignon, asas de frango and more! 🥩 All the meat is slow-roasted over open flames too!

They’re popular over in The Light, and have now expanded to open their second Leeds site at the Merrion Centre right by the arena!

It’s not all about the Rodizio-style service, as they do have an a la carte menu featuring classic dishes like flat iron steak or salmon piccioli. There’s also unlimited fresh salad, cheese and cold meats over at the salad bar!

🚨 And competition alert! 🚨 To celebrate opening their second Leeds venue they’re giving away a rodizio meal for two to a lucky Leeds+ follower!

Leeds+ Postcode Pick - Part 13: Silver’s Deli, LS13! 🥪

We’ve FINALLY visited popular independent Silver's Deli in Bramley!

These guys have taken the classic sarnie up a notch, absolutely stuffing it with fillings and dressings! You won’t catch a standard ham sub on the menu… think caprese, meatballs and even the O’Hagan 2.0 created by regular customer, Dan O'Hagan 🤤

They’ve only been around for a couple of years but have already been recognised for their bangin’ food, winning the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Award in September 🎖️

And if you’re wondering who THE Silver is… it’s actually owner Chris’ daughter! He described the shop being ‘like one of his kids’ 🤍

Talk about decking the halls - the historic Harewood House has taken Christmas decorations to the next level! 🎄🎁

Every year this place is completely transformed for Christmas. For some, taking in the magic is tradition - for others, it may be one to begin! One thing’s for sure - a visit to Harewood will get you in the Christmas spirit! 🎅

This year, the Harewood House team drafted in the help of TV Interior Designer Siobhan Murphy to decorate the house from top to toe 🤩

The theme for 2025… A Glittering Invitation ✨

There’s also a free miniature trail for kids to follow throughout the house and outside, the magic continues…

Each of the 140 acres are just as Christmassy as the next, with Santa’s sleigh parked on the terrace outside this historic country house, and an open fire for marshmallow toasting! 🎅

The old Yorkshire Bank building in Leeds city centre is about to disappear… and be replaced by mainly student accommodation!

The building on Merrion Way has stood here since the 80s, but after the company was taken over it announced it would be moving out by September 2021.

Replacing it, two huge blocks of student flats and an events centre. 1,200 student bedrooms will be split across a 38 storey building and a second block that will be between 7 and 20 storeys high 🏢

The council gave the plans the green light back in 2022, and the demolition began this year 🏗️

Plans for an events space on the land were also approved, but there’s no date for when construction could begin. It’s hoped the venue would attract corporate, cultural and live events - expecting over 100,000 visitors per year 🫨

Downing is the development team behind it. They’ve also developed other iconic Leeds buildings, like Broadcasting Tower. They’re working with SimpsonHaugh Architects, who recently completed work on the new Merrion Street student accommodation.

Skates on Leeds! ⛸️ The ice rink returns to Millennium Square next Friday (21st Nov) 🙌

It wouldn’t be Christmas in Leeds without this part of town packed full of festive fun! 🎄

Bavarian-style market stalls, rides and bars will fill Millennium Square, Cookridge Street and Victoria Gardens, as ‘Ice Cube at Christmas’ welcomes thousands of visitors right up until New Year’s Eve 🎅 [AD]

Tickets for the ice rink are now available - with sessions for kids, quieter hours for accessible sessions and one-to-one classes too!

If you’re free on a Monday to Thursday for an off-peak session, it’s just £10pp at 12.15pm, 2:15pm, and 4:15pm (except school holidays) 🧊

Thor’s Tipi is back in Victoria Gardens by Leeds Town Hall, opening this Saturday (15th Nov) alongside the Carousel & The Big Wheel 🎡 and new to Millennium Square this year will be warm caramelised nuts and smoked brisket 😋

This popular Chinese supermarket in Leeds has now opened its own bakery! 😍

Introducing Sing Sing Bakery, serving everything from Dubai chocolate buns to yam flavoured Labubu cakes! 🍰

You’ll find it inside Sing Kee Leeds City Centre supermarket on Woodhouse Lane up at the Merrion Centre 📍

There’s savoury stuff too, inspired by flavours from Hong Kong, and it’s all freshly baked ready to take away or eat in! 😋

The Kirkgate Market area in Leeds could look very different this time next year! 🫨

Back in 2023, planning was approved for a hotel to be built effectively ON TOP of one side of Leeds Markets. It’s set to have 143-bedrooms, with a restaurant and public gym on the ground floor. When permission was originally granted, the council agreed for Premier Inn to operate the hotel when it opens.

Now, the council have taken a big step forward by choosing a contractor to begin detailed planning. Clegg Construction have been appointed and are behind other buildings in Leeds like the Fabric Works student accommodation and the build-to-rent Spinners Yard development 🙌

Changes are coming to the bottom of the market in Leeds city centre too! STACK is set to transform some of the outdoor market space into a food village made from shipping containers! It’ll be made up of ten street food vendors, six bars and a coffee shop. It’s hoped that construction will begin in early 2026 🔜

House of Koko have brought their famous brunches to Leeds city centre! 😍

These guys are a local staple in Chapel Allerton and Oakwood, and now have a third site on Central Road behind Briggate 📍

Expect everything from American pancakes, classic steak and eggs and delights inspired by dishes from around the world 🌍

It’s been a difficult time for the businesses on Central Road. Mrs Atha’s occupied this spot until April this year.

Before closing, the owners had spoken out about persistent disruption caused by the demolition of the House of Fraser building opposite.

In its place is Store House, filled with shops on the ground floor and student accommodation above, will open in 2026.
