We took Daisy to Mexico in June which was a 10 hour plane ride and a 6 hour time difference 🥹 here are some things that worked for us!
Reins in the airport for us worked well, she had the freedom to run round and I wasnt worried that someone would steal her (intrusive thoughts on the daily with me)
Prepare for the moments you know they will hate - AKA for us being strapped in the seatbelt for take off and landing! For this we bought a busy book that she'd never seen before which did the trick!
We let her climb the seats, mess with the screens, nothing was a mystery or off limits so she settled in quite well when she knew what everything was and wasnt curious
We had 50 million snacks and let her pick so she felt in control still where she could!
We let her travel in a bonds wondersuit as theyre light, soft, easy to do bum changes in and we also took her shoes and socks off on the flight as if she was at home.
Ipad ipad ipad!! No regrets this saved our lives, I downloaded loads of new games and films for her which she rotated as and when.
Our flight was 11am so we woke her up early that day and ran her ragged round the airport, then delayed the nap as late as we could into the flight which worked like a dream for us.
We let her walk up and down the aisles which she loved! We also included her in anything we did, films, music, meals.
We decided before the flight that we would expect the worst and anything above that was a bonus and so when she did have any moments we just rode them out with her, flying with a toddler is tough for parents but also tough for babies! Imagine how overwhelming it must be!
