Full zoom, lowered exposure, lowered brightness — and somehow I managed to capture this photo of the full moon! Tried three or four more times, but the image kept blooming out.

It’s astonishing how far mobile photography has come since my first camera phone in the 2000s.

Anyone got a Samsung Galaxy phone that can get crazy-detailed moon shots? Are they genuine or a bit of a gimmick?

October 2024: I was in a good rhythm—regular 5Ks every week, the odd 10K a couple of times a month, and seriously eyeing up a half marathon.

Then a painful foot condition hit me out of nowhere. Not an injury—just one of those things that makes every step miserable. Frustrating doesn’t even cover it. The progress stalled, the weight crept back on, and the motivation dipped hard.

The last three months of 2024 was a write-off and so was the first half of 2025.

The weight piled back on.

For a while, I sulked. Then a few months ago, I decided that enough was enough.

Started back at square one: Couch to 5K.

Today, for the first time this year, I ran a full 5K. It might be the holiday I’m presently on that gave me the push I needed, but whatever it was—I’m grateful.

Here’s to more of that. Getting fitter, shedding the weight, and getting back to where I was three years ago.

Slow progress is still progress.
