Rachel Bentley
Rachel is a contemporary artist living in Walton, Wetherby.
Her work is deeply rooted in memory, place and lived experience, drawing constant inspiration from years spent exploring the Pennines, Moors and Dales of the Yorkshire landscape.
Rachel’s artistic practice is characterised by loose mark making and a powerful sense of atmosphere. She works primarily with acrylic, watercolour and experimental mixed media, building up rich layers that capture the changing light, weather and seasons. Whilst much of her initial work begins outdoors, her pieces are developed in the studio. She has also recently expanded her repertoire to include graphic studies of meaningful buildings (like the image shown of The Fox, Walton, to mark its reopening) and frequently enjoys experimenting with new techniques at home and with her art group, Walton Group of Artists.
Following a successful career as a business coach, health challenges led Rachel back to her art, which is now a central focus. This personal journey fuels her exploration of themes like resilience, the landscape and the vital connection between environment and wellbeing. Rachel regularly shares insights into her process and the stories behind her work on social media. She is also a proud member of Artists Around Wetherby and takes part in their annual open studios, with this year’s event taking place in June.
Rachel’s original paintings, prints and cards are available for purchase at local events and exhibitions, through selected independent stockists in Leeds and online. She is also currently open to commissions and collaborations.
