Some beautiful words from Emily and Yanis who celebrated their wedding at Grangefields Barn in Derbyshire last month 🩷

A gorgeous couple inside and out, they put their absolute all into planning the perfect day for them and their guests and made sure they packed in as many special moments as possible. As if speeches weren't enough, both threw in performances with the Groom's band 🤯 and my setlist featured a host of tracks with personal significance for their loved ones.

Thank you both for an unforgettable evening... and sorry-not-sorry for the tearjerker moment ✊️♀️

Whether you know you want one but can't choose a track, definitely don't want one but feel like opening the night with *something*, or can't decide what to do - I've packed this post with tons of suggestions and food for thought on the subject.

Rant incoming... but I lurk on a few Facebook groups where people ask for wedding supplier recs, and when people say they're looking for alternative touches to their day they get a ton of responses from traditional suppliers anyway. Some, especially DJs, will say things like they're "up for the challenge" of playing the music they want.

Let me be clear: ✨ Your musical preferences are not a challenge, they're an exceptional opportunity for the right DJ ✨

If you're into anything out of the ordinary and a DJ manages to convince you they can include your favourites without already knowing most of the styles you want, then they're setting themselves up for a very poorly judged set, and you're missing out on the night you want. So make sure you're looking in the right places to find the playlist of your dreams - if you're reading this then you're off to a great start 🥳

I often get asked how my booking process works, so here it is in a waffly nutshell!

The first thing to do is say hello! You can reach me in lots of ways – via DM on Insta or Facebook, the contact form on my website, or my LinkTree. I’m also trusted by a handful of alt/non-traditional wedding supplier directories with listings on their pages.

Remember to let me know your date, your venue/location and anything else you think I should know beforehand.

I’ll reply by email within 2 days to confirm my availability. I’ll also include my pricing info at this stage, so you have everything you need to know from the start.

You need to trust the person taking care of such an important part of your event, so the next step is to meet in person or online to get to know each other. I want to make sure I understand your hopes and expectations for your event.

If you’re planning a wedding, I’d prefer to speak to both of you if possible – and if you want to involve a loved one or your pets (especially your pets) they’re welcome too!

During your consultation, we’ll talk about your venue and practicalities for the day before getting to the most important part - how we’ll get you and your guests on the dancefloor!

Trust me that it can be difficult to remember your favourites on the spot, so having your music library open for reference will save you from forgetting the essentials.

With AI and online scams getting more sophisticated, I can’t stress this enough:

I don’t currently work with any agencies, and I don’t take bookings without having a REAL conversation - not just by DM or email.

I will NEVER request a deposit or payment of any kind until we have a chance to speak in person or online.

Once we’ve sorted the paperwork to secure your date, I’ll contact your venue and/or planner to check their requirements and provide any info they need.

I’ll be in touch again a couple of months before your event to gather any song requests and double-check plans for arriving and setting up.

After you’ve had time to rest and reflect on your big day, I’ll send a quick note asking for an online review 🩷

💜🩷 Rave the Date is taking a wee break! 💜🩷

That's right folks, I'm having a not-so-hard-earned week off between 7-17th February and thanks to tight baggage limits and my boyfriend's love of hats, my laptop is staying at home!

I'm coming to the end of my first official year in business and yesterday's .weddings at was the perfect way to end my run of winter wedding fairs! We really did feel the wintery-ness yesterday, as demonstrated by Iggy who needed regular cuddles to keep warm 🥶

I met the coolest bunch of to-be-wedded couples, suppliers and dogs through the day and even had a good old bop behind the decks for a couple of mini sets - if you were there, hopefully you enjoyed the tunes as much as did 💜💃🏼

Huge, HUGE appreciation and thanks to Lex for putting my logo in neon lights, to say you've elevated my stand is an understatement 😍
