Christmas Office Closure 🎄

The Screen Yorkshire office will be closed from the end of today and will reopen on Monday 5 January, 2026.

A huge thank you to everyone for your support this year. We’re so grateful to all those we’ve worked with, trained with and connected with across Yorkshire’s screen industry.

We hope the break brings some rest, good company and plenty of great films and TV, especially stories shot in, set in or inspired by Yorkshire.

We look forward to seeing you in the new year and wish you a really lovely festive season.

If you’re looking for something a little different to do in the lead-up to Christmas, this weekend’s screening at Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds is well worth a visit

The final event in Stronger Than Love: ¡Too Much Mexican Melodrama! brings the tour to a close with Victimas del Pecado / Victims of Sin (1951), a dazzling noir musical directed by Emilio Fernández.

Cuban-Mexican icon Ninón Sevilla stars as a nightclub dancer drawn into a shadowy world of cabarets and organised crime, delivering unforgettable musical sequences along the way.

The film screens at 2pm on Sunday 21 December, with an introduction from Film Quarry.

Curated by Invisible Women through a feminist lens, the programme celebrates bold aesthetics, heightened emotion and women’s voices both on screen and behind the camera. It’s also a rare chance to see classic Mexican cinema on the big screen in Leeds.

Meanwhile, over in Harrogate, our Screen Crafts and Digital Skills cohort is already deep into their first week, at The Crown Hotel. They have been hearing fantastic talks from brilliant industry partners including Tungsten Media and Viridian, gaining real insights into the changes happening across the screen sector, and learning how to build flexible, adaptable skills to work broadly across the industry as it continues to evolve.

Here are a few pics from last night’s get together for the Mayor’s Script Diversity Programme. It was such a brilliant evening and we were so lucky to have Paul Andrew Williams, writer and director of Dragonfly, with us to share his insights and wisdom. It was also lovely to see members of last year’s cohort, some of our industry friends and partners, and students from our other programmes all coming together to celebrate the end of the year. Our CEO Caroline Cooper Charles joined us too, making the night even more special.

A huge thank you to the Mayor of West Yorkshire for making this programme possible, to our brilliant Senior Head of Talent Jo Schofield for putting it together, and to our fantastic cohort of writers who participated. What a way to round off the year.
