Our Story

Our station started in 2012 as an internet radio station, run by 2Funky Arts, with local DJs streaming shows from their ‘bedroom’ studios. We aimed to be Leicester’s No.1 Internet radio station primarily dedicated to Black Music, Arts and Culture.

We highlighted alternative music outside of the mainstream ‘pop’ charts, such as hip-hop, RnB, reggae, house, drum n bass, and UKG.

Our success, empowered us to use the radio and skills from our DJs and presenters, to create various workshops and community education projects. This dedication and work towards our community and black music and arts, gained us a Community Radio FM Licence in 2018 which we finally launched in July 2020.

We have finally reached our goal of becoming Leicester’s first Black centred music radio station, broadcast on FM bandwidth.
