After reporting on the bike ram and theft recently north of Anstey, there was speculation that the theives knew exactly where the rider was going to be. Now this..

Police update
It has come to Police attention that thieves are attending bike events, such as bike nights, and placing tracking devices on unattended motorbikes. These devices allow offenders to locate where bikes are kept and later steal them.

Please stay alert and aware of who is around your bike. Regularly check your bike for anything unusual or out of place. There is software you can get, which alerts you when you are near a tracker.

Try to park where you can clearly see your bike at all times. Most importantly, remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour around your bike or others

Tough if you are a pedestrian on Maplewell Drive. The Speedway car park being about the same walking distance away from the DMU sports centre on Beaumont Park, so no excuse for parking here.

It seems the Leicester Mercury have been asking local people about this ten year old problem in the week..

Midge safe and well.
Informed by message early this morning, that the lab from Birstall Lodge Farm on Thurcaston Road, had ran off in the early hours. She bolted after being scared by the overnight thunderstorms. Found shivering in the road at 5am in Beaumont Leys by Kyle Taylor, and taken to the vets. Here she is safe in his car..

RIDER RAMMED
A motorcycle rider is being treated in hospital, after his vehicle was deliberately rammed by a car heading for Newtown Linford during the early hours of Tuesday 26th May. The road has been sealed off in both directions this morning

The rider was travelling through Anstey around 4.55am, when he noticed a burgundy Audi estate parked in The Nook. Later he spotted the Audi driving behind him. As he entered Bradgate Road, the Audi sped up and rammed his motorcycle, knocking him off.

One of the occupants of the car approached the victim as he was lying on the ground, threatened him and demanded the keys to his motorcycle, which was a black and grey 125cc Yamaha. The suspects left the scene in the Audi, with one of the suspects riding off on the bike. Both vehicles were last seen heading towards Newtown Linford.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Brown, said: “From enquiries we have carried out so far, it's believed there were five men in the vehicle. Anyone who saw the Audi, or has since seen the bike (partial registration number FE70) or has any useful information, is asked to contact Detective Constable 87 Phil Brown on 101, quoting crime number 👉 26*302799.

A later statement from the man's sister, saying her brother suffered a broken leg and ankle. She also claims the occupants of the Audi were youths, and a van turned up to take the bike away. This conflicts with the earlier Police report

GOTCHA..👮‍♂️
Despite two PCSOs regularly telling local residents, that the Police can do nothing about the continual parking problems, Police were out taking action this morning on Maplewell Drive.. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EMoqTkgqa/

Besides pavement and pedestrian blocking, a group report that two properties were left getting in and out with great difficulty, and one residence had their drive completely blocked.

Some residents and indeed some Police officers we feel, wishing the City Council wardens were out doing more..

TIPPERS SPREADING OUT
Noting since Thurcaston Road has become less accessible, there has been more tipping on Green Road. That's the link road from the currently closed access at Benskins Oval (Thurcaston Park estate), to the new main unopened road in to Verdant Rise.

Image : The gate on Ashton Green Road thought to be broken open to allow horse access, has been left open for quite a while now. Low wire fencing further down on Green Road, is all trampled down. Garden bushes, and old fencing dumped there. The Morris homes development coming to the right field, might help matters..

Meanwhile on Thurcaston Road..
He's wanting the womble group to come back, and here a message from mobility vehicle user Cliff, re the excessive rubbish there.. "I've been picking up two items every time I go to the farm, and put in my bin when I get home. By October it may just be clean..!"
