As Sarah Cornish embarks on her 15th day at sea competing in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, her team, London Business School, is currently in 5th place for the day, having covered 140 nautical miles in the past 24 hours. Overall, however, London Business School holds an impressive 2nd place in the race standings.

Sarah Cornish is now a fully fledged competitor in the Clipper Around the World Yacht Race, having departed Fremantle just over a day ago to begin Stage 5 of this epic endurance challenge.

Stage 5 spans a demanding 3,400-nautical-mile passage from Fremantle to Airlie Beach, Australia. After leaving Fremantle, crews head east into heavy ocean swell before rounding Tasmania and navigating the notoriously challenging Bass Strait.

Once the fleet turns north along Australia’s east coast, the race shifts from offshore endurance to tactical coastal sailing. Managing variable winds, complex currents, and high-intensity sprint stages will test teamwork, strategy, and navigation all the way to the tropical waters of the Whitsundays.

Sarah’s team is currently sitting in seventh place for the stage, while holding an impressive second place overall.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Sarah CornishCornish has now departed for Australia ahead of joining her team in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. She will be competing in Leg Four, sailing from Fremantle to Airlie Beach—a journey that will see her spending both Christmas and New Year at sea, with 21 consecutive days of ocean racing.

We will be sharing weekly race updates, but as it stands, Sarah’s yacht—proudly sponsored by London Business School—is currently in second place. You can follow the race in real time here: https://clipperroundtheworld.geovoile.com/2025/viewer/

As many of you may know, Sarah Cornish of Chambers is preparing to embark on the adventure of a lifetime as she takes part in the Clipper 2025-26 Round the World Yacht Race.

On 31st August, ten 70ft ocean racing yachts will set sail from Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, beginning an extraordinary 40,000-nautical-mile odyssey that spans six continents and eight epic legs. This unique race brings together professional sailors and novices as crews drawn from 50 nationalities worldwide, to take on some of the most challenging and unpredictable waters on the planet.

Sarah’s journey will begin on 21st December 2025 when she joins the crew onboard the yacht sponsored by London Business School, in Fremantle, Western Australia. From there she and the crew will sail South to the southern coastline of Australia, battling the roaring forties in the Southern Ocean, South of Tasmania before turning North, against the East Australian Current up into the Great Barrier Reef and conclude on 11th January 2026 at Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. Sarah’s journey will include 21 days of consecutive non-stop racing on Leg 4 of the Australian Coast-to-Coast Challenge, a 3,400-mile passage from Western Australia to Eastern Australia. Over the course, Sarah and her 15 crew mates will face everything from towering ocean swells to intense tropical squalls, navigating conditions that will vary between a blazing 30°C to a near-freezing 5°C.

Remarkably, Sarah was a sailing novice just five months ago. Since then, she has undertaken rigorous, and at times extreme, training, demonstrating extraordinary commitment and determination to earn her place on the crew for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The Clipper Race proudly partners with UNICEF, and over its 25-year history, the race has raised vital funds to support children across the world. Sarah’s personal goal is to raise £1,500. If you feel able to, donations can be made here: https://tinyurl.com/jh9wreny. Every donation, big or small, will help make a difference.”

It’s always a great celebration of the achievements of not only the local legal community, but in particular those of the newly qualified solicitors who have excelled in their profession. The reduction in legal aid has, predictably, led to more families appearing in court without legal representation. Without the appropriate understanding of what constitutes a fair and reasonable settlement more and more cases are proceeding to final hearings, rather than being resolved through negotiation or mediation. The stark result: 4,000 children involved in cases lasting over two years!

National Audit Office's latest report delivers a sobering assessment of a system struggling to meet the needs of vulnerable children and families.
