Last night, Church Riverside Scout Troop, lead by Troop Leaders, Ben Duffin, Jenny Mitchell and Alan Thompson (Raksha) completed their Summer Term Hike contributing towards their Navigator Level 3 Badge!

On a route taking them out of the town, through woodland and along canals, the group displayed their knowledge of map reading skills, providing leaders with information on current position on a map grid, landmarks and directions for safe navigation.

On the hike, the troop also learned about the Countryside Code, nature, local wildlife (with some beautiful displays from the Red Kites), as well as tips for hiking in different terrains!

What a result for Church Riverside Beavers, led Paul Nets (Maple)!

We’ve been fundraising for Leighton-Linslade Helpers as a way to earn our Community Impact Stage 1 badge. We managed to raise £100 which was amazing!

We spoke with LLH, made a list of everything they really needed and then we went to Morrisons and bought five boxes filled with what they needed!

This week we went to visit the Helpers in their warehouse, learn all about what they do, and give our donation. Beavers had loads of fun and even got to put their donation away on the shelves 😁

Beavers most enjoyed finding out about why we have food banks, who their community is, and all the different things they do to help people who need a bit of support.

Thanks for having us LLH - we hope to be back with more donations very soon!

Our Scouts and Leaders have been busy, busy, busy.

With our new hut, The Ark, in full use it is now time to set all our camping gear, outdoor activities in order.

The Scouts had the opportunity to label and catalogue storage boxes to allow an easier way of keeping things safe and secure as well as to make sure that, when the items require renewing or refilling then we have a good working system in place.

Checking and maintaining equipment to make sure all gear and items are safe and in order for further use, and if needed do minor repairs.

This is just the first few steps towards achieving their Quartermaster Badge.

Good start and well done 👏 🙌

Yestersay eight scouts, Mike (Trustee), Megan and Ben, both Leaders had an amazing time at parliament. Importantly there were no issues, injuries or behaviour issues.

Mike has kindly summarised their eventful journey below:

"We left at around 4.30pm and took the train to Euston, we missed a couple of underground trains as it was so busy (middle of rush hour) but eventually made our way to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. We cleared security, walked through Westminster Hall (where the Queen laid in state), some very grand corridors and finally ended up at the Parliament terrace.

The event was sponsored by DuoLingo and was designed to promote the importance of foreign language learning in British society. There were prominent speakers from universities and government. Luckily there was also the DuoLingo owl and very posh small bites on offer to keep us all busy during the speeches. After the speeches the winners were announced, Alex Mayer won top prize and we were presented with a giant cheque for £2500.

After we headed off at around 20:15 and managed to catch the fast train home which got to LB at 21:30."

Meg, was invited to attend the Kings Scout Award, which is the highest award you can achieve in scouting.

The celebration brings together all kings scout award holders for a parade around the Quadrangle and Windsor Castle Grounds.

We are all so very proud of your achievements and honoured to have you as part of our Scouting family.

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts celebrated St. Georges Day during the week by taking part in the St. Georges Day parade.

It was accompanied by some beautiful weather and a great atmosphere.

As part of the celebrations a few of our cubs received the Chief Scout Silver award for their hard work and dedication to the Scouting family.

Well done 👏 🥳

One very special award, thanks to our Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, was handed to one of our Beavers for Beaver of the year. What an achievement, Well done 🎉🎊
