Our Olena represented The Refugee Buddy Project, sharing our work supporting people seeking refuge and safety across Hastings, Rother and Wealden.

It was a brilliant opportunity to connect with local organisations and community members, and to celebrate the power of working together. 💛

On 21 September, the band Ukrainian Hearts brought the spirit of Ukraine to Lewes with a rousing night of Ukrainian music and disco, and it was a fantastic evening! 💃🕺

Special thanks to our wonderful artists who lit up the stage:
Людмила Кулакова, Tatiana Storozhuk, Marina Tkachenko, Diana, Darina, Robin Sadler and Bing – your voices and energy made this evening truly special!
And thank you to our special guest, Lipova, for her magical violin performance – a truly beautiful moment that touched everyone in the audience.

A thunderous round of applause to Andrey Bubennak for his captivating and fiery performance!

A huge thank you to the 'Ukrainian Hearts' team for preparing delicious traditional dishes that made us feel at home.

And, of course, thank you to the Con Club in Lewes for hosting us and providing such a cosy venue for this special event.

This event celebrated Ukrainian music and culture and raised money for charity. We are proud to announce that the funds raised this evening will support children's cancer hospitals in Lviv and Kyiv. Together, we are helping to make a difference where it is needed most. 💖🙏

🇺🇦💙💛 When Ukrainian Hearts came up to Parliament recently, I really wanted to get a photo with them outside 10 Downing Street to celebrate their amazing work - sadly it wasn’t possible this time, but the Prime Minister did send this letter recognising what they do here in Sussex.

The work Ukrainian Hearts does to help Ukrainians fleeing conflict to integrate, build new lives, foster a sense of belonging, preserve cultural heritage, and enrich our local community is truly invaluable.

I wanted to share this with you all - thank you to everyone involved with Ukrainian Hearts for everything you do! 🇺🇦✨👏

Musical and Cultural Emphasis

On the 14th of June, Ukrainian Hearts held a wonderful Summer Ceilidh at Iford Hall to raise funds for the Lviv Children's Oncology Hospital. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and supported our cause.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing British friends and volunteers—Bing, Jill and Graham, Vic and Tina, and many others—who helped us organise this event from start to finish. Your support and kindness mean the world to us.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to:

Iford Estate, for generously providing such a beautiful venue.

Lewes for Ukraine,Helen Chiasson and Pat O'Toole for your ongoing support and solidarity.

The Pistols, for the wonderful live music and expert barn dance calling.

This event was a true celebration of community, compassion, and collaboration. Together, we raised £821 that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of children who're fighting cancer in Ukraine

Don't pass by – help Andriyko! 🙏🏻

Many of you probably remember Andriy from Ukraine, a brave boy for whom our volunteer friend Victor S Ient raised funds during his unusual bike marathon – from the south of France to Lewis in the United Kingdom. This incredible journey of over 900 miles (1,590 km!) was not only a physical challenge, but also an act of deep love and solidarity with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

🚴‍♂️ Over the course of 20 days, climbing more than 14,000 metres, our volunteer battled fatigue, pain and endless hills – all to help save lives.

📌 But now we have received heartbreaking news:
Andriy's tumour has grown again, and he is having difficulty breathing.
He is currently undergoing another course of chemotherapy.
He is fighting for his life, but he and his mother cannot do it alone.

🙏 We urge everyone who sees this:

We are so close to completing the fundraising and giving Andriy a real chance at recovery.
