Fire In The Hole Productions Ltd is an award-winning, independent film and television production company based in the UK. We are passionate about filmmaking and enjoy bringing great stories to life. Fire In The Hole Productions is an independent production company with a global reach that is dedicated to making outstanding, high-octane, filmmaker-driven commercial movies in the historical/action/t

hriller/crime space. The company was founded by Filmmaker, Rick Roberts in 1997 who has worked with HBO, BBC, CBS and high-end independent film companies. Fire In The Hole Productions is a trusted partner for the very best international sales and distribution companies in the UK. Since the end of 2019 Fire In The Hole Productions has become a limited company. The global pandemic in 2020 and the following year, hit our company hard, like many companies but on a positive note, we decided to move away from the lower end market of independent filmmaking and push into higher end and bigger budget films. For example, in one production in 2022 we've worked closely with United Agents. We have huge aspirations and significant long-term international growth prospects built on a foundation of exceptional sector knowledge and experience. Fire In The Hole Productions is aiming to be the largest and most prolific provider of international historical action films in the UK and Western Europe. We have a formula that works, the absolute cream of the crop of talent in all aspects of filmmaking and our timing is right. We are passionate about our industry and the people in it and are proud of our incredible British and international film heritages; our ambition is global and our films are designed to have genuine international appeal. We want Fire In The Hole Productions to continue to be a company that builds and fosters long-term relationships creatively as well as commercially. Reconstruction of inside a World War German Type VIIC U-boat (submarine)

Directed by Wolfgang Petersen Released in 1981 after two years of filming ‘Das Boot’ (The Boat) was, at the time of production, the most expensive German film in history, costing 30 million Deutsche Marks (US$40 million). Location shooting included segments shot in the La Pallice bunkers. There were three models made of the U-Boat used in the film, one of which was an exact replica made by the company that originally manufactured the boats during WWII. Although they wanted to use an authentic one for the film, the only surviving VII-C Class U-Boat is now a national monument in Germany and could not be used for filming. The non-functional full-size replica U-boat was accidentally sunk during filming, later raised and used also in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’. A smaller-sized functional model 6-7m replica was used to film ‘at sea’ scenes.

Our Story

Fire In The Hole Productions is an independent film and television production company based in the South East of England. We are passionate about filmmaking and enjoy bringing the pages of history to life. Fire In The Hole Productions was founded by Rick Roberts in 1997. Rick started making and directing short films in 1992 as a hobby as he fell in love with cinema at an early age. As Rick's experience grew, he was able to get involved with larger scale projects which enabled him to begin investing in his own independent films such as See It Through, From This Day, Dark Country and Seventh Soldier. Rick has experience in writing, producing and providing expert military costume advice but his main passion will always be for his role as a director. Fire In The Hole Productions has worked in a variety of production roles to help develop projects for HBO, BBC, CBS as well as several of its own independent features and film shorts. Many of these independent films have showcased at festivals all over the world and have been broadcast on televison networks such as SKY. Fuelled by a childhood love for movies and a keen interest in both British and American history, Fire In The Hole Productions always brings a professional and multifaceted skillset to every project. Additionally, Fire In The Hole Productions is a costume and prop supplier with a large collection of authentic period costumes, props and set pieces available for hire. With a vast knowledge of military and western history, the company also offers techinical advice on war-themed, historical and western-based projects, ensuring that maximum historical accuracy and authenticity are met in every aspect of production. At Fire In The Hole Productions, we pride ourselves on creating historically accurate and entertaining films.
