Fire In The Hole Productions Ltd is an award-winning, independent film and television production company based in the UK. We are passionate about filmmaking and enjoy bringing great stories to life. Fire In The Hole Productions is an independent production company with a global reach that is dedicated to making outstanding, high-octane, filmmaker-driven commercial movies in the historical/action/t

hriller/crime space. The company was founded by Filmmaker, Rick Roberts in 1997 who has worked with HBO, BBC, CBS and high-end independent film companies. Fire In The Hole Productions is a trusted partner for the very best international sales and distribution companies in the UK. Since the end of 2019 Fire In The Hole Productions has become a limited company. The global pandemic in 2020 and the following year, hit our company hard, like many companies but on a positive note, we decided to move away from the lower end market of independent filmmaking and push into higher end and bigger budget films. For example, in one production in 2022 we've worked closely with United Agents. We have huge aspirations and significant long-term international growth prospects built on a foundation of exceptional sector knowledge and experience. Fire In The Hole Productions is aiming to be the largest and most prolific provider of international historical action films in the UK and Western Europe. We have a formula that works, the absolute cream of the crop of talent in all aspects of filmmaking and our timing is right. We are passionate about our industry and the people in it and are proud of our incredible British and international film heritages; our ambition is global and our films are designed to have genuine international appeal. We want Fire In The Hole Productions to continue to be a company that builds and fosters long-term relationships creatively as well as commercially. We also aspire to becomes an incubator for the very best creative talent and be identified as the brand that gives its audience that little bit more. Our philosophy is to give audiences what they want. We make world-class films using the very best talent and facilities the UK and Europe have to offer. We make films people want to see, bringing great stories to life. We believe in independence. In an industry overshadowed by billion-dollar behemoths, we offer a counterpoint of true independence, authenticity and craftsmanship. In the emerging post-coronavirus world, there is a genuine, significant gap in the market for high volumes of good-value entertainment which can be produced and delivered expertly and expediently. Fire In The Hole Productions can deliver this and is well placed to carry it on to a higher level. And we’re just getting started! The Fire In The Hole Productions slate is crammed with high quality content as we expand our operation beyond the UK. We’re going to shake things up: welcome to the revolution.

🎬 CAST ANNOUNCEMENT – DEAN CHRISTIE AS FRANK TIBBS

We’re incredibly proud to officially announce that Dean Christie will be joining the cast of Improper Bastards as Frank Tibbs.

Dean is a superb character actor with a fantastic screen presence, bringing real authenticity, grit and quiet menace to every role he takes on. Over the years he has built up an impressive body of work across British film and television, with credits ranging from hard-hitting crime dramas to major feature productions.

Most recently, Dean appeared in Marching Powder, and audiences may also recognise him from Hitmen, Il Sonnambulo, and Guy Ritchie’s stylish Haig Club short alongside David Beckham.

🎬 A Special Addition to the Collection

We’ve recently been gifted a fantastic and rather special piece an original jacket used in the Oscar-winning film Glory.

This is a Confederate artillery shell jacket, worn during the film’s powerful final sequence the assault on Fort Wagner. A real bit of cinema history, and a great example of the level of detail that went into bringing this story to life on screen.

Glory (1989), directed by Edward Zwick, tells the true story of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment one of the first African-American units in the United States Army during the American Civil War.

The film stars Denzel Washington (Academy Award-winning performance), Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick, Cary Elwes, and Andre Braugher.

The 54th Massachusetts became renowned for their bravery, most notably during the assault on Second Battle of Fort Wagner.
On July 18, 1863, they led a courageous attack against heavily fortified Confederate positions near Charleston, South Carolina. Despite suffering heavy casualties, their actions proved pivotal demonstrating the courage and effectiveness of African-American soldiers, and influencing wider recruitment across the Union Army.

The final sequence in Glory captures this moment with incredible intensity and respect and this jacket was right there as part of that recreation.

For us, pieces like this are more than just props they represent a bridge between history and filmmaking, and a reminder of the importance of getting the details right.

A great addition to the collection, and one we’re very proud to have.

For a number of years now, Fire In The Hole Productions has been quietly developing and producing independent feature films with a great group of talented people.

With our base and offices in Sussex, we continue to develop and produce distinctive stories across a range of genres, from gritty crime dramas and thrillers to historical films, westerns, fantasy and horror.

Over the years we’ve also had the privilege of contributing to a range of larger productions and documentaries, including work connected with broadcasters such as the BBC, HBO and CBS. Experiences like these have helped shape the standards and approach we bring to our own productions today.

Independent filmmaking has always been about strong ideas, ambitious storytelling and the right people coming together to bring something to life.

Sussex is home, but the stories can take us anywhere.

We just focus on making them.🎬

Westerns have always been a genre we’ve had a deep love for.

Some years ago we even had the chance to make one ourselves, and ever since the genre has remained close to our hearts.

Over time we’ve developed several western feature screenplays, including Lone Creek, Hell’s Horizon, Deadman Falls, and The Devil’s Claim.

Pictured here is just a small snapshot of some of the period-accurate costumes, props and blank-firing revolvers we’ve built up over the years. In reality the collection runs to hundreds of items, all carefully sourced to help recreate the world of the American frontier during and just after the Civil War.

These are dark, character-driven stories, largely set in the mid late 1860s, exploring the harsh realities of a young and often unforgiving America.

We’re hopeful that in the near future one of these western feature films will move into production, continuing our focus on grounded storytelling and ambitious independent filmmaking with global distribution planned once completed.

For us, westerns have never simply been about gunfights.

They’re about people, choices, and consequences.
