Roe Valley exhibition explores the history of Northern Ireland’s Prison Service 📜

Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre is set to host a compelling exhibition next week as part of the celebrations of the conferment of the Freedom of the Borough to the Northern Ireland Prison Service.

The exhibition will feature a fascinating collection of artefacts, photographs and documents contributed by former prison officers, collectors and the Prison Service itself.

It will provide a unique insight into the evolution of the Prison Service in Northern Ireland, established in 1921 highlighting perspectives from both staff and prisoners.
Items on display include group photographs of prison staff spanning several decades, alongside images of prisoners captured on glass plates more than a century ago.

📅The free exhibition will run from Monday 24 August to Saturday 29 August. Please note that the Centre will be closed on Friday 28 August.

🕤Opening hours are 9.30am–5pm Monday to Thursday, with late opening on Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm–9pm. The Centre will also be open on Saturday from 10am–1pm.
