Yellowbelly Records

Yellowbelly Records Yellowbelly Records is a Lincolnshire-based record label. This was the catalyst of conversation regarding the decline and rise of physical media in music.

The story so far…

One crisp winter night, two Lincolnshire musicians found themselves in a dinky old pub, listening to an extraordinary local artist. Enthused by their desire to hear more, they found that the artist had a self-produced CD, which they immediately purchased. Seeing the popularity of this CD and the joy it brought to all, they knew there and then that there needed to be more. Thus c

ame the birth of Yellowbelly Records. Lincolnshire has always had a great variety of talented musicians, but, in this digital age, it is more difficult than ever to support local artists. This is what we are setting out to rectify; riding the resurgence of physical media to support artists across the county. Yellowbelly Records is working with local artists to give them opportunities to produce physical media and merchandise for their musical careers and aspirations, creating a catalogue of releases across a variety of artists that Lincolnshire can be proud of. To help enable artists to invest into their releases, we are putting on a variety of showcases to demonstrate the talent in Lincolnshire’s music scene. The funds raised from these events will be going straight back into helping artists fund physical releases of their music, supported by a team of dedicated physical media enthusiasts. We are also partnering with talent across Lincolnshire’s art scene, including fine artists, photographers and videographers, graphic designers and stage engineers, to bring out the best Lincolnshire has to offer.

LET THE IMP OUT is back for 2026 bigger and badder than ever!

Yes, LET THE IMP OUT is back, with more spoken word shenanigans and awesomeness, and we are delighted to announce that for a new year, WE HAVE A NEW VENUE!

We are delighted to announce that the new home for our monthly night of spoken word splendidness will be none other than Vice & Co - a venue that has supported a host of Yellowbelly Records events over the years, and a venue that we are sure will deliver that relaxed and intimidate atmosphere that we have sought after for this event.

Our debut night at Vice & Co will be the 8th January, and we welcome everyone to come down, enjoy one of their phenomenal bespoke cocktails, or indeed other tasty beverage, and enjoy a magical night of top tier spoken word in a top tier venue!

We look forward to seeing you all there, and to kicking off our start to 2026 in style!

Merry Xmas, many happy returns, and wishing you all a fantastic new year from Yellowbelly Records. 🖤🎸🎶🎉

Well, we've missed a few days, but I shall make up for that with three days worth of mushy gushy drivel... 😂

2025 has been another fantastic year for Yellowbelly Records! Where we had around 35 releases to the name last year, this year saw us surpass 50, with the utterly phenomenal debut album from The Broken Wonders fittingly being our 50th! We have also had some new names join us, with Matt Tango Ellerby, Harry Medium, Austin T, Sacred Starfish and more join the rosta and have a release with us!

This year also saw us return to Tattershall Castle, and deliver our third sensational Summer Solstice event. Despite being bittersweet now, as this gig marked our last with good friends of ours Turning Of The Tide, they as well as The Limewoods and The Broken Wonders delivered a top tier night of true Lincolnshire folk / folk punk. And we are delighted that they are wanting us back for 2026!

2025 also saw the birth of Let The Imp Out at The Pessimist Gin & Wine Bar, our very special monthly night of spoken word. Having built the night up across nine months, we are delighted to say it will be back for 2026 bigger and badder than ever before. Though we loved being at The Pessimist, and would thoroughly recommend people to visit them for drinks and food (their menu is 🤌), we have a new home for a new year - which we will announce shortly after Christmas 😈

On the spoken word vein, 2025 also saw me FINALLY release my debut poetry anthology, A Modern Day Albion - an 18 poem anthology loosely inspired by the notion of Albion, and what that means to me in a 21st Century context. Copies are avaliable from me in person, or from Amazon online 😄

I could go on and on, but wouldn't want to start boring you all 🤪

So, to round up on my 2025 round up... here is a cartoon version of me with a glass of wine raised wishing cheers to you all for this festive season, once again! 🤟

Day 20 and we're celebrating some of the amazing people that help us keep going.

The first image shows most of the crew we had for The Broken Wonders' set at Ey Up Mi Duck festival. Alongside ourselves, we have our north-coast connection in Kerys of Magnumpix Photography, Mary Cooke the sound and lighting legend, Ed and Dale of Not That Kind Of CIC and their lil puppers, Rosie who continues to help and slay at many events, and Janet who has so much patience for all our shenanigans. Not pictured is also Ra, who has been invaluable since well before Yellowbelly came to be, and Roger Poulter who has been an absolute legend and a lovely chap we hope to see more of. All of us banded together that day to make something very special which we'll hopefully get to experience next year, many thanks to all of them for all their help there and at many events through the years.

Next up is Jordan Burton-Morris of Tongues Of Silence Promotions, who has quickly become a great ally and a solid addition to the local music scene. Lots of potential in this young musical chap, one to watch! Cheers for everything, bud.

Of course, we have our friends at the Crafty Cove, Whitby. These guys have been working with us since day one, and haven't faltered in their determination to create top-quality merch for many of the artists we work with. Let's get a cuppa next time we're up Whitby again, all the best guys.

We've also made some great new friends, including Brainache Promotions and BSB TV, who we hope to see more of next year. Anyone else who wants to work on merch or a gig, do get in touch; though we will be responding and planning fully after the silly season!

We wish everyone the absolute best holiday period, and we'll catch you all again next year for more adventures!

Day 19 and advent brings us back to the sunny Summer Solstice show at Tattershall Castle!

Hundreds of music lovers turned out for this special evening of tunes for all the family. There was lots of singing, lots of dancing, and lots of chill vibes throughout, and all the performers brought a joyful energy to the castle grounds.

Turning of the Tide started us out with some classic folk tunes. We adore their songwriting and performance, and though the band has gone their separate ways, we are honoured to have seen them on top form one last time.

The Limewoods kicked things into high gear, with tunes and melodies that got even the most stubborn toe tapping. The perfect folky accompaniment to such a joyfully unique event.

The Broken Wonders then threw all expectations out, getting the whole grounds singing along to their effortlessly catchy repertoire. Their bouncy energy and legendary songs closed the evening with style and power.

We look forward to working with the National Trust again next year, to bring another evening of excitement and vibes to this wonderful setting.

Thanks also to Magnumpix Photography for capturing this event, and Rosie for helping out in the technical trenches. Both of you have been awesome all year, and look forward to catching you again in the next one.

Day 18, only a week away now! Let's throw back to one of our biggest gigs of the year, Alt-Folk for Alt Folk; Folking Around at the Crafty Cove!

This monster of a gig featured absolutely sensational performances from artists across the country, so we'll try to be brief;

Harry Medium absolutely killed out of the gate, solidifying himself as not only a brilliant songwriter, but also a fantastic developing performing artist too. Proper impressed.

Brian Stone Music once again brought pirate-folk wonder to THE pirate town of the north. Everyone was singing and dancing; a marvellously fun time!

Henshaw Music brought Wibbo along for some duo shenanigans, which certainly led to some brilliant musical performance, as well as some top banter. Great way to close the 1st night.

Opening the 2nd night is no mean feat, and the wonderful Harrison Rimmer absolutely crushed it with ease. This man coan get a group of pensioners singing along and dancing like they were young again. Class act, top bloke.

The Limewoods came to conquer Yorkshire, and they might well have done it! So tight, so talented, so beautifully written; these guys didn't put a foot wrong the whole gig, and had a wonderful time doing it too. Dedicated and talented in equal measure.

The Broken Wonders ushered in a new age, introducing their new name and branding alongside a show for the ages. From an already fantastic show last year, they brought the roof down on the Cove with an evening tighter, even harder and even more fun set than ever before. A new dawn rises on this powerhouse of a band.

The guys at the Crafty Cove, Whitby forever have our gratitude and support for not only their stellar prints for many artists' merch, but also a fantastic host for these annual Yorkshire adventures. We look forward to hearing more about their new location, and look forward to catching up with them again in the new year!

All that's left to say now is;
Go check out each of these artists! NOW!
They're all amazing and go harder than they have any right to. Here's to all of them, and to a fantastic year ahead for all.

Day 17 and we're celebrating a fantastic album from a brilliant artist; Matt Tango Ellerby Art and Music and his album ’Welcome To The Half Moon Hotel’!

Tango’s songwriting is hypnotic and engaging, frequently featuring folk-lore and tales of old, as well as local history and the odd monster here and there. Supporting that is his insane repertoire of musical instruments; it seems like you could hand him any instrument and he’ll nail it.

Matt’s first album with us, ‘Welcome to the Half-Moon Hotel’ is a culmination of years of work and dedication, and the results are astounding. Beautifully written, skillfully composed and with a flow that modern albums can only hope to achieve; this has been in regular rotation at Yellowbelly HQ since its release! He's also enjoyed many fantastic shows, including one at Off The Beaten Tracks and appearances on LCR FM Lincoln.

You can find more from Tango, as well as online ordering for 'Welcome To The Half Moon Hotel's on our website; www.yellowbellyrecords.co.uk/tango

Day 15, and we're keen to Let The Imp Out with you all!!

This year saw Yellowbelly Records delve into new territory, launching a very special spoken word night called Let The Imp Out. We have had a blast with this one, with Rupert taking the helm and hosting the monthly event with good friends of ours, The Pessimist Gin & Wine Bar.

All this capped off with the wonderful launch of Rupert's own poetry anthology, A Modern Day Albion, with many wonderful guest appearances and beautiful words spoken throughout.

It has been a pleasure to welcome new performers each month, and to feel like we are a welcome addition to the Lincoln spoken word circuit. With plans in place for the new year, who knows how far Let The Imp Out will go!

Two weeks in, and we're highlighting one of our most prolific artists, the legendary songwriter Rob Oldfield Music!

Rob has had at least one release with us every year, and never fails to IMPRESS. His newest album, 'Write A Lincolnshire Song Folk Song Rejects' is a fantastic compilation of expertly crafted songs. While they've yet to win the contest, his efforts have certainly won our hearts. Seeing the album brought to life at our concert at The Joiners Arms, Lincoln was sensational, and Rob always manages to bring a unique and enthralling performance, alongside his talented accompaniment.

4 albums in, there's plenty to enjoy from this Bard. Check out the Bardishish discography at www.yellowbellyrecords.co.uk/bardishish and chill out to some expertly crafted songs around brilliantly inspired lyrics. We look forward to whatever Rob brings next year, and wish him a very merry Xmas!

Day 12 of advent, and we're gonna include days 9 and 10 with 4 awesome local record shops; 4 for 3, advent bonus!

Jimmy has been keeping Back to Mono in awesome shape, still stocking hundreds of top quality vinyl and CDs; we always find something new there!

Mark at Off The Beaten Tracks in Louth has not only been keeping stock of some fabulous records, but his gigs including one with the awesome Matt Tango Ellerby Art and Music have been lovely intimate experiences.

The guys at The Old Post Office in Mablethorpe continue to surprise us with not only some shockingly good deals and rare finds, but also a very handy service for record decks and other hifi shenanigans.

And the guys at The bat box have had an interesting old year, we look forward to seeing them again in the new year for their reopening.

We wish all of these guys a very merry Xmas, and look forward to restocking them in the near future. The next time you're in there picking up a vinyl, CD or merch, be sure to check out the Yellowbelly Records stand for some awesome local artists!

Day Eleven, and we're in Heaven!

As we've sadly missed Day Nine and Ten due to being busy with life, urghhh, Day Eleven brings something special, in the form of our very first white jewel case release!

This is Start To Burn, the debut album from the sensational Harry Medium, and we are very much looking forward to releasing it to the world very very soon!

With this awesome release, there will also be an awesome release show to be announced - so do keep an eye out, because you definitely do not want to miss out on that!

Day 8 and we're feeling great, listening to Austin T!

The smooth grooves and foot-tapping riffs of the 'Going Out' album keep us going back to this fantastic record. A fantastic performer, flamboyant and groovy in all the right ways, Austin T and his band of merry musicians continue to delight across the county, bringing an old school punk attitude to every gig.

If you fancy an old-school record filled with charm and wicked sharp lyrics, give Austin T's 'Going Out' a go. Will be lovely to catch them in the new year, let's see what's next for this class act!
