Wow, what a busy week out and about in the beautiful County of Lincolnshire meeting lots of interesting people.

Monday I was at Louth Livestock Market working for one of my clients, Lincolnshire Rural and Agricultural Chaplaincy

Tuesday I was working from home and at lunch time counted some butterflies for the Big Butterfly count. 12 Gatekeepers, 4 Red Admirals, a comma and a common blue for those who are interested.

Wednesday an early start for some networking in Boston organised by the South East Lincolnshire Partnership. Great presentations about skills and employment in the area by Adam Peacock and recruitment by Gill Harvey, MBA Always nice to see Roy Harper and the lovely Tracy Harper welcoming us and directing us to the all important refreshments.

Yesterday I headed down to the South of the county and Baytree Garden centre near Spalding for the South Lincolnshire Business Women Networking meeting organised by Daniella Kempson. This time I had my Green and Natural Living hat on sharing some of my favourite easy plastic free swaps as it is Plastic Free July.

Then in the evening I headed to Rauceby Hall near Sleaford for a bat walk organised by LRSN as part of their Women in Wellies project. It was a beautiful place and the bats gave us a fantastic display, with 4 species showing up including Common Pipistrell, Soprano Pipistrelle, Noctule (I think) and can't remember the last one.

A pot marigold (Calendula) in my herb garden, seeing them always make me smile.

Why did you start your business?

I started my first business when I was about 23 or 24 as a part time massage therapist while working full time. The plan was it would be something I could do from home around children when I had them.

Fast forward to 2009 I was a single Mum with an autistic 5 year old and 4 year old who wasn't great at sleeping so had had 4.5 years of sleep deprivation. Being a massage therapist hadn't worked out.

I wanted to be there for my children during the holidays etc so I tried being a Teaching Assistant for a child with special educational needs but that meant I was there for the holidays but missed sports days and assemblies

I finished being a teaching assistant and started my own business, so that I could work my hours around my children, especially all the extra SEN meetings I had to attend for my son.

For me flexibility of when I work is very important even now that my children are 22 and 21. Being a parent to an autistic young adult means I still need to do more parenting stuff than parents of neurotypical young adults.

Do you support local businesses?

I love supporting local businesses.

The best way to support local businesses and the local economy is to spend money with local businesses.

I have had a busy and interesting week.

On Wednesday I was in Louth networking at the Love Lincs Wolds leaflet swap and finding out about what is going on in the Lincs Wolds.

Then I headed to Lincoln for another Networking event at Lincoln City Football club with Business Women's Link On the way to Lincoln I stopped off at The Shop, South Elkington and bought lunch and a delicious icecream. Then on to Market Rasen where I went to The Green Life Pantry refill shop, where I refilled my washing up liquid and got a few other bits.

Then to Caenby Corner for a raw milk shake at The Milk Shed. Then I popped into Lincoln and bought an organic dress from Seasalt.

On Thursday I was in Lincoln again this time for my son's graduation. Where we had lunch at Bell's Teashop and I spent some money in another 2 independent shops in the Bailgate.

What local businesses do you recommend?

At Lincoln Castle getting ready for son's graduation. Lovely day for it.

Who likes coffee and cake?
Let me taking care of setting up the tech behind your email marketing, so you can doing something more enjoyable instead.

That could be having coffee and cake or working with your clients doing that thing that is your zone of genius not spending ages getting frustrated by setting up the tech.

Send me a direct message if you would like to have a chat about how I can work with you to make more time for coffee and cake.

I am just at the lovely Bar Unico in Horncastle for some coffee and cake while doing some work for a client.

Do you use beautiful eye catching images?

I love photography. I love taking pictures of beautiful things with my phone it makes content creation easier as you don't have to worry about copyright issues.

I also love seeing beautiful pictures on Social Media.

For some graphics I use stock images on Canva. But mostly I use my own images.

I did think about adding a quote about do you make time to stop and smell the roses but decided not to.

The photo is a beautiful pale pink rose with dark green leaves.

I love where I live in the flat Fens of Lincolnshire. You can see for miles and we have the most beautiful skies.
This morning on my dog walk there were 2 buzzards flying low across the field in the first picture. I love buzzards, most of the time they are flying so high in the sky that they are small specks but I can hear their calls so know they are there.
Then were 3 hares in a different field.

These fields are owned and worked by farmers I know, having lived here for most of my 50 years. I worry about what this government is doing to the farming community and rural life. I know the majority of people live in towns and cities so don't understand how hard farmers work or how generous they are.

I feel at a loss of how to help farmers, I buy British produce and buy from local producers, but even before this government they were under so much stress.

But for the time being I stand under my Cherry Plum Tree when it is in blossom listening to the bees, looking up at the beautiful blue sky and pray that better days are coming.

If you need help with social media or email marketing send me a DM and we can organise a chat on Zoom.

Women's History Month and Why telling your story and showing up on social media is so important!

Women's History Month is something that started in America so not everyone in the UK posts about it, but I think they should.

We need to know stories about women because although alot of 'His'tory is written by and about men and their contributions, women made important contributions too.

Fantastically Great Women who made History by Kate Pankhurst is a great children's book. Sharing stories about Harriet Tubman, Boudica, Ada Lovelace, Qiu Jin and more amazing women. These stories or Herstories are important in showing and inspiring girls and boys, women and men that women do make amazing contributions and they can too.

But what about you and your business?
Do you share your stories on social media?
Your story helps people connect with you and your business.
Your story may inspire other women to share their story.

If you see someone sharing their story maybe about why they started their business engage with it and share it to inspire others.

Also, don't think no one will be interested in my back story. I want to know you and your business.

For the rest of this month I am going to be sharing more about my story and inspiring women from History.

Will you help by sharing too? The more people who share their story the more women we can inspire.

Oh I hate taking selfies.

Finding the right place in my home, with good lighting and no clutter in the back ground.

This photo was taken at the top of my stairs in my office. After I don't know how many attempts.

Do you love having your picture taken or do you loathe it?

Do you avoid showing up on social media because you think you have to show your face all the time?

Yes, pictures of people get more engagement, because it is human nature to resonate with another human face. But posting consistently is more important, says the person who isn't consistent on social media at present.

Anyway are hope you are having a more relaxing Sunday than I am.
