Are you a business owner who cares about sustainability and the environment?

Me too. For over 30 years I have cared deeply about the state of the world, the environment, sustainability etc. Over those 30 years the words to describe environmental issues have changed but my commitment to doing my bit to have a positive impact on the planet hasn't.

A few of the things I do:
🌎 Always use my reusable shopping bags
♻️ Recycle as much as I can, not just using kerbside collections but recycling other things that need taking to the household waste site.
♻️ Compost tea bags, fruit and veg peelings at home
🌍 Generate electricity using solar panels and use a Green Energy Company
🌎 Buy Fairtrade and Organic products
🌍 Donate to a small charity that plants trees and educates women
🌎 Buy from other sustainable businesses or environmentally minded businesses
🌍 Buy from local businesses to support the local economy rather than big corporations

There are lots of other things I do that I will share in future posts.

Do you show your face online or do you use an AI twin?

I am not someone who loves to have her photo taken or someone who is queen of the selfie but I want to show up as me, as I am right now. This is who you will see on a Zoom call, no filters. This is who you will meet at an in person networking meeting.

I have never used filters on images that I share online, what you see is what you get. I don't have time to put make up on either.

Sometimes selfies aren't enough and I am very lucky to have a lovely daughter who is a talented photographer with a posh camera. Usually her clients have 4 legs and she has to get them to point their ears forward. But today I was helping her to develop skills in directing people on a photo shoot. The photos aren't ready yet so a selfie is what you get today.

Are you feeling the Back to School Vibes?
It is 3 years since I have had to deal with any Back to School stuff with my kids, who are now 21 and 22. I have to say I don't miss all the Back to School prep, but I am sure there will be lots of business mums who will be glad their children are back at school.

So whether you have children or not, are you feeling the back to school vibes in your business?

Do you want more clients? Or do you want to move to the next level with your business? Like moving from GCSEs to A-levels.

I have been doing some planning for what I want to achieve in the next 90 days. I want to help more business owners create content that gets them clients without using AI.

But I also want to try new things, play more, and experiment with doing things in a different way. So, here's to the new term and creating things in a new way.

Wow, what a busy week out and about in the beautiful County of Lincolnshire meeting lots of interesting people.

Monday I was at Louth Livestock Market working for one of my clients, Lincolnshire Rural and Agricultural Chaplaincy

Tuesday I was working from home and at lunch time counted some butterflies for the Big Butterfly count. 12 Gatekeepers, 4 Red Admirals, a comma and a common blue for those who are interested.

Wednesday an early start for some networking in Boston organised by the South East Lincolnshire Partnership. Great presentations about skills and employment in the area by Adam Peacock and recruitment by Gill Harvey, MBA Always nice to see Roy Harper and the lovely Tracy Harper welcoming us and directing us to the all important refreshments.

Yesterday I headed down to the South of the county and Baytree Garden centre near Spalding for the South Lincolnshire Business Women Networking meeting organised by Daniella Kempson. This time I had my Green and Natural Living hat on sharing some of my favourite easy plastic free swaps as it is Plastic Free July.

Then in the evening I headed to Rauceby Hall near Sleaford for a bat walk organised by LRSN as part of their Women in Wellies project. It was a beautiful place and the bats gave us a fantastic display, with 4 species showing up including Common Pipistrell, Soprano Pipistrelle, Noctule (I think) and can't remember the last one.

A pot marigold (Calendula) in my herb garden, seeing them always make me smile.
