On This Day in 2005: The First YouTube Video Was Uploaded

Today marks exactly 20 years since the very first video was uploaded to YouTube, a simple 18 second clip titled “Me at the zoo.” What began as an informal moment captured on camera has since evolved into a global platform that has fundamentally changed how we communicate, market, and connect.

Since that modest beginning, video content has become one of the most powerful tools in the world. YouTube alone has launched careers, transformed industries, and provided businesses, large and small, with the means to tell their stories on a global stage. It has redefined how we consume information, how we learn, and how we buy.

As a filmmaker and video coach, I’ve seen firsthand how video has the power not only to inform and engage but to build trust and drive real growth for individuals and businesses alike. Whether it's through high-quality promotional films or teaching professionals how to feel confident on camera using just their smartphones, video continues to be one of the most effective ways to connect with your audience.
