💜💚Child Death Awareness Week💚💜
Day 2 - Theme - grief shared, grief eased.

Today from 11 - 1.30pm the alder centre hold a community and cake open door session. Sit down relax, meet new people who are also going through the loss of a child or simply have a look around and just take it all in.
Just know they are there if you need support. They offer so much it's not just councilling.
Parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters they will help and support anyone who has been effected by the loss of a child 💜💚

Post a memory of your child today or how you honour them and say their name including our hashtags 💚💜 they will forever be remembered and you are not alone 💜💚

Today marks day 1 of the first ever CHILD DEATH AWARENESS WEEK!

Let’s raise as much awareness as we can on what’s still such a taboo subject!

This should be spoken about and out there a lot more than it is in the world!

Below are a few simple things of what YOU can do to help break the silence!

Let’s get involved on all your own social media’s! It takes seconds to do!

💜💚 Ideas to be involved or help to raise awareness 💜💚

-visit the alder centre
-use the hashtags on socials




-Wear your very own CDAW ribbon available at the alder centre or from myself
-organise a fundraiser in your child's name
-decorate or light up your home purple and green
-balloon/bubble release for your child
-wear purple or green clothing
-car stickers, banners, bracelets, candle jars avaialble at TML Creations
-join miles for memories uk ( Saturday 5th July)
-hand out leaflets to help raise awareness.

-light a candle for your child
-say your child's name, share photos, story's etc.
-visit grave, garden, outdoor space and reflect on your journey
-spend time with family and friends and speak about your child

So tomorrow is the beginning of our first ever
💚💜 Child Death Awareness Week 💜💚
1st July - 7th July

There are set themes and each day has connection with The Alder Centre
Below is a list of things on this week at the alder centre which combine Into CDAW
I'll also put a list of things you can do at home to honour or raise awareness with us this week.

Tuesday 1st July - Alders Hidden Gems art and craft for siblings of children gone too soon. Today is about siblings and how arts and crafts can support and help them through the grief journey 💜💚

Wednesday 2nd July - Community and cake at the alder centre 11. 00am- 1.30pm, a place of safety and support open to all. 💜💚

Thursday 3rd July - national bereaved parents day, also lunch drop In at the alder centre 1. 00pm - 2.30pm 💜💚

Friday 4rd July - a day based on family, other family members feeling grief and recognising grief in everyone effected by the loss of a child. Open door at The Alder Centre 9.00am - 4.30pm 💜💚

Saturday 5th July - a day to raise awareness, to educate and support people going through this tough journey. Also the day we will be taking part in our first "Miles for Memories Uk" sponsored walk to raise awareness and funds for The Alder Centre. Organised by myself and hoping to be bigger each year 💚💜

Sunday 6th July - a day for rest and reflection. Spend time outdoors, walks with family, plant flowers for your child, sit and relax. Reflect on your journey.
Outdoor country/woodland walks really do help with mental health also and spending time with family/friends can be important. 💜💚

Monday 7th July - last day of child death awareness week.
Alder centre have a men's support group on 6.30pm a place for men to receive support and listen to others who are going through child loss.💚💜

For the first time EVER, a dedicated Child Death Awareness Week will take place from July 1st to July 7th, creating a space to honour the lives of children who have died and to support the families forever changed by their loss.

The week includes National Bereaved Parents Day on July 3rd and will feature a series of events. This new observance was founded to confront the silence that too often surrounds child death, offering visibility to grief, and space for remembrance.

“This is about making the invisible visible,” said Simon Riley, founder of the initiative, Head of The Alder Centre. “Grieving parents, siblings, and communities deserve to be seen, heard, and supported, not just in their darkest hours, but in the long journey that follows.”

Newly formed, we trust the voice of those affected by the death of a child will grow and be heard nationally and internationally over the years to come.

Whether the loss occurred through illness, accident, stillbirth, or other tragedy, every story matters. Every name matters. And every grieving family deserves to know: they are not alone.
