New Sound Generation Magazine is a new music magazine from Liverpool focusing on and giving a platform to the great unheard voices within the music industry from a grassroots level upwards. We provide a space for local music and art to be showcased on a national and international level while working with local contributors in the hope that we can help these people also succeed in music photography

“AMAZING!”, “NOSTALGIC!” “SURREAL!” are all the words that passed my ears over the weekend, during the biggest event at Scunthorpe United Football Club, Attis Arena, this year so far. Already having celebrated their 125th year anniversary of operation, they hosted the ‘Scunthorpe Stadium Weekender‘, which included fairground rides, refreshments, novelty stalls and music from a variety of artists including local artists such as Buzzkill Joy to artists who are very well established such as Dirty Sterling, Bass hunter, Artful Dodger and even Example made an appearance!

A Conversation with Ellis J Barraclough.

19-year-old Hull native Ellis was discovered by Vincent Garcia, veteran of Drizabone, the ‘90s soul/acid-jazz band who scored a big hit with ‘Real Love’ and whose remix of Shanice’s ‘I Like Your Smile’ turned the original into an international smash. He helped him land his first big gigs, including shows with the comedian and writer Lucy Beaumont as well as Inspiral Carpets and Thomas Dolby, and is also his regular producer and collaborator. Now he’s aiming to leave a failed career as a plumber behind to make it as a pop star.

Adding fresh support from Americana UK and Music Talkers to previous backing from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio London and BBC Radio, he continues to elevate his undeniable potential as he shares the follow-up single ‘Blasphemy’.

NSGs Billy Vitch had the opportunity to catch up with Ellis to talk about his career and fire some questions at him.

The War On Drugs with support from Somebody’s Child, at Liverpool’s Mountford Hall 08/07/24.

The Philadelphia Indie rock, heartland rock, neo-psychedelia, Americana band that is The War On Drugs came to Liverpool earlier this week to bless us with their musical greatness, and bless us they did! The band are only doing 4 dates in the UK this time and they chose Liverpool for two of them! The other two are at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 11 & 12 July.
