To celebrate our 5th year, we’ll be bringing back Plaza 80s/90s favourites AND adding some fresh classics into the mix. 🙌

We round off our retro series of films for 2025 with the first Christmas Specials announcement.

This year’s 1980s Christmas film is the classic, Trading Places (15) on Saturday 13th December.

Trading Places is a 1983 comedy film directed by John Landis. Starring Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy and an all star cast, the film tells the story of an upper-class commodities broker and a poor street hustler whose lives cross when they are unwittingly made the subjects of an elaborate bet to test how each man will perform when their life circumstances are swapped.

Nick Gartland will be on warm up before the main film with an 80s themed DJ set. Christmas Jumpers optional!

There will be a bar and a food bank collection on the night.

Tickets go on sale on Monday 27th October priced only £7 via the following:
Plaza Cinema - Online (Midday), Box Office - Cash/Card (From 4pm). Plaza Community Shop - Cash Only (Midday until 4pm, then normal hours)

🎬 Plaza 90s Presents: Trainspotting (18) “Choose life. Choose the Plaza!”

To celebrate four years of our retro film series, Plaza 90s brings Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting back to the big screen — raw, iconic, and unapologetically Scottish.

📽️ Trainspotting (1996) is a cult British black comedy drama directed by Danny Boyle, based on Irvine Welsh’s novel. Starring Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, and Kelly Macdonald, it follows a group of he**in addicts navigating addiction, friendship, and the chaos of youth in Edinburgh. With razor-sharp editing, a legendary soundtrack, and unforgettable performances, it remains one of the most influential British films of the ’90s.
