🌊 The Royal Albert Dock is set to brighten up 'Blue Monday' (the 19th of January 2026) with x10 £100 Vouchers hidden across the dockland to spend on various dockside businesses such as Maray, Rudy's Pizza, Lost Soles, The Beatles Story, Escape Hunt & many more.

🌊 From 10am, visitors can search for the blue envelopes hidden across the inner quay, with each one containing a Β£100 voucher. For clues on where to find the vouchers, follow the dock’s social channels, where hints will be shared.

🌊 With January deals already on offer at several of these aforementioned venues, the vouchers will go even further, making it easy to enjoy a day out on Liverpool’s iconic Waterfront.

🌊 Sean Morrison, Estate Manager at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, said: β€œBlue Monday is often considered one of the most challenging days of the year, so we wanted to create something fun and uplifting that gives people a reason to get out and enjoy the dock.”

πŸ“° The Ivy is expanding its much-loved β€˜1917 Menu’, a two-course set menu, and priced at Β£19.17 until the end of February, celebrating the year that the first Ivy restaurant opened in London.

πŸ“° A nationwide study of UK adults reveals that modern luxury is now defined by quality time with loved ones, shared experiences and affordable treats, rather than extravagance, as The Ivy announces the expansion of its iconic 1917 two-course set menu for just Β£19.17 from now until the end of February.

πŸ“° The findings reflect a cultural shift towards accessible, emotional luxury, experiences that feel special but still fit into everyday life.

πŸ“° With over a third of the British Public (36%) saying they prefer regular, guilt-free treats over occasional big splurges, the research highlights why accessible luxury is becoming the new benchmark.

πŸ“° Mark Askew, Group Executive Chef for The Ivy Collection, said: β€œIt's clear from our research that luxury today is about connection, comfort and quality - not cost… At just Β£19.17, it is the perfect antidote to the winter blues, giving guests an opportunity to continue enjoying life’s small luxuries, even when budgets are feeling stretched after Christmas.”

🎭 Next week, Inspector Morse pays a visit to the Liverpool Playhouse in 'House of Ghosts', starring Tom Chambers as Inspector Morse in a stageplay written by the Liverpool City Region's very own Screenwriter & Playwright, Alma Cullen, who was behind the original TV Series.

🎭 A chilling mystery unfolds when a young actress suddenly dies on stage during a performance, and Detective Chief Inspector Morse embarks on a gripping investigation.

🎭 Anthony Banks, Director of 'Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts', said: β€œAlma Cullen’s original Morse story contains a play-within-a-play β€” an inspired concept for a murder mystery which reveals the similarities between playing a part when acting and covering up a crime!”

🎭 This production comes to the Liverpool Playhouse from Tuesday the 13th to Saturday the 17th of January 2026. 'Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts' is an original story written for the stage and is a must-see for fans of compelling detective drama and thrilling mysteries.

🍻 Bootle’s oldest pub, The Jawbone Tavern, dating back to 1802, is set to expand its capacity by 80 & create 8 new jobs.

🍻 Since reopening again in September 2024, Bootle’s oldest pub has been a big hit with locals after being taken over by new owners who renovated the local, while still keeping its rich history intact.

🍻 Now, the owners are developing a new sports bar element to the venue, which is currently being built as part of an extension, and will open soon enough to start of this year. The new addition to the venue will include three electronic dart board lanes, a pool table, as well as seven big screens.

🍻 The expansion will create an additional 8 jobs at the site.

🍻 General Manager of the Jawbone Tavern, Dave McNally, said: β€œWhen the new owners took over the Jawbone Tavern, they had plans to create a new outdoor space, and that was completed earlier in the year… The sports bar will be an extension of what we currently offer, and we look forward to welcoming customers both new and old from January onwards.”

πŸŽ„ Ecstatic to be invited to review Guinness at Pogue Mahone, and as an avid Guinness fanboy, this invite felt like a dream come true. So with my Guinness Christmas Jumper in tow, we headed to the beautifully festive Seel Street venue.

πŸŽ„ I recently covered how Pogue's were personally selected as a recipient of The Guinness Harp, with only 35 establishments in the UK being chosen by Guinness, so that set the expectations high. Though, I can safely say that Pogue Mahone delivered upon that seal of approval.

πŸŽ„ Beautifully poured and well-maintained Guinness, in a crisp and cosy environment. A worthy winner of a spot on The Guinness Harp Guide 2026 List.

πŸŽ„ Plus, we enjoyed some Baby Guinness shots and some bags of Tayto's Christmas Tree Tortillas, which were Glazed Gammon flavoured.

πŸŽ„ I'm always a very conversational person; however, something I particularly loved was the fact that in Pogue Mahone, plenty of their patrons were only too happy to chat, which is exactly what the purpose of a pub is, that's where its soul lies. It's about community, and feeling immersed in a staple part of the UK's culture, where no one is lonely or left out.

πŸŽ„ The staff were as friendly as you could wish for, with Deano and Co making us feel very welcome.

🧘 Liverpool yoga teacher, Jenni Jones, Owner of Yoga Bumps Liverpool and the woman that introduced the City’s first pregnancy-focused classes twenty years ago, is now supporting three generations of local women in a multitude of ways as demand for women’s health and wellbeing support continues to grow.

🧘 Jenni Jones, who lives in Crosby, began teaching pregnancy yoga in 2005 at a time when most people in the Liverpool City Region had never heard of classes tailored specifically to expectant Mums. She remembers launching her first session just weeks after becoming a Mum herself and wondering if anyone would turn up.

🧘 Since then, more than 16,000 women across the LCR have passed through her classes at venues including Liverpool Women’s Hospital, St Hilda’s School, community centres in Crosby and West Derby, and online.

🧘 Alongside pregnancy yoga, Jenni has spent the last two decades training in women’s health and supporting women through major life transitions, in addition to her work doing yoga.

🧘 Jenni Jones, the trailblazer of pregnancy yoga in Liverpool, said: β€œWhen I started, pregnancy yoga wasn’t known in the City. People didn’t know what it was or whether it would be suitable. Over the years, I’ve seen women through their first pregnancy and then their second, third, fourth and fifth. Now I’m meeting daughters of women I supported twenty years ago, which feels incredibly special.”

β˜• Ma Pub Group are set to become the new custodians of Cafe Tabac β€” with new owner, Iain Hoskins, adding: β€˜It will remain the Tabac Liverpool knows and loves’.

β˜• CafΓ© Tabac, one of Liverpool’s most enduring cultural institutions and a defining presence on Bold Street for over half a century, is set to begin a new chapter this December as it joins the Ma Pub Group family.

β˜• Opened in 1974 by Rita Lawrence and run as a family business, CafΓ© Tabac quickly distinguished itself as a home for Liverpool’s creative vanguard. Through the 1980s, it became a bohemian refuge for the city’s post-punk, new wave and alternative scenes, welcoming a generation of artists, musicians, writers and performers, including Holly Johnson, Pete Burns, Margi Clarke, Ian McCulloch, Jayne Casey and poet Gerry Potter.

β˜• Elaine Clarke, CEO of Baa Bar Limited, said: β€œCafΓ© Tabac was opened by my Auntie Rita and Paddy Byrne of the Everyman β€” who sadly passed away only weeks ago β€” and from the very beginning it carried the spirit of the Everyman’s bold, creative energy.”

β˜• Iain Hoskins, Ma Pub Group Director, who owns other Liverpool Institutions such as Ma Boyle’s, said: β€œBeing entrusted with CafΓ© Tabac is an honour. It has been at the heart of Liverpool’s cultural landscape for decades and holds a huge place in the city’s memory.”
