Right then... who's got the chops?
Sunny Runny Productions are on the hunt for PETE “THE MEAT” JENNINGS, a major supporting role in our debut feature film, No Gentle Goodnight, shooting in Runcorn from the end of October 2026.
Firstly, a massive thank you to Dave Oz for stepping in as Pete for our original proof-of-concept trailer. As we move into the full feature, we're now recasting the role.
PETE “THE MEAT” JENNINGS
Male | Playing age 50s -60s | Northern
Pete is a local butcher and an old face from David's past.
He's a hulking slab of sweat, sarcasm and questionable dietary choices, usually found in a butcher's apron with a pork pie in one hand and an opinion nobody asked for in the other.
Funny without trying to be. Rough around the edges. The sort of bloke you probably already know... and if you don't, you've definitely avoided eye contact with him in a pub.
But don't mistake Pete for comic relief.
There's a proper character underneath that apron and some cracking material for the right actor to get their teeth into.
We need presence. Someone who can make us laugh without playing for the laugh, handle the heavier dramatic stuff when it comes, and make Pete feel like a real bloke rather than a collection of Northern stereotypes.
THE FILM
No Gentle Goodnight is a British independent psychological crime thriller, written by Terence Caddick and directed by Mark Holland. Produced by Sunny Runny Productions & Going Nowhere Productions.
We're a low-budget independent production, and we're not pretending otherwise.
Our cast and crew are working on a contracted profit-share basis, because we'd rather be completely upfront about what we're doing from day one.
But low budget doesn't mean two blokes with an iPhone and a packet of crisps.
We're putting together a proper feature-film production with an experienced cast and crew, professional cinema equipment, structured shoot days and a team of people determined to make something we're all proud to put our names on.
We might be independent. We might be doing it differently.
But we're doing it properly.

Experience is welcome, but we're much more interested in finding Pete than collecting the longest CV.
If you've got natural screen presence, good comic timing and can bring the dramatic chops when they're needed, we want to hear from you.
