Great news about the Multi-Storey Car Parks (Safety) Bill.


The Prime Minister has agreed to look at the contents of the Multi-Storey Car Parks (Safety) Bill, to be known as Gabe's Law, which aims to prevent deaths from multi-storey car parks, following Peter Dowd MP reintroducing the bill to Parliament last week.

The Bill calls for an increase to the legal minimum height of barriers throughout multi-storey car parks, currently 1.1m, and 24-hour security, to prevent more tragedies.

There will be a meeting with Building Safety Minister, Alex Norris MP next week as the new law would require a change in building regulations.

Gabe's Law is campaigning to make multi-storey car parks safe. The QPark MSCP that Gabriel lost his life from, as Maria Eagle MP correctly pointed-out in Parliament, had edge protection that was illegally low. Even if it had been compliant to a minimum standard, this is still too low. Gabe's Law is calling for increased minimum height of guarding and 24hr staffing in ALL MSCP to end the tragedy of preventable deaths. https://gabeslaw.org/
