A Tribute to Paul Shannon
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, everyone at Mersey Radio bids farewell to our dear friend and colleague, Paul Shannon.
It is with great sadness that everyone at Mersey Radio says goodbye to our dear friend and colleague, Paul Shannon.
Paul was a much-loved presenter who brought warmth, knowledge, and passion to our airwaves through his programmes Rolling Back the Years and The Total Country Show. He was a true music lover who knew his music inside and out, and that knowledge shone through every show he presented.
More than just a great broadcaster, Paul was a very close friend to so many of us. He was always ready to lend an ear for a good old chat, offer support when it was needed, and help others whenever he could. His friendship, kindness, and sense of humour will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul worked tirelessly when he was able to be out and about, raising money for the British Heart Foundation, a cause that was very close to his heart. He also played an important role behind the scenes at Mersey Radio, helping us secure sponsors and supporting the station in countless ways. His dedication and commitment never went unnoticed.
Paul will be greatly missed by all of us at Mersey Radio. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with his daughters, Nichola, Caroline, Danielle and their Partners, Mitch, Ste, and Rob all his grandchildren, and his Partner Cindy and all of his family and friends during this difficult time.
Paul leaves behind a lasting legacy of friendship, community spirit, and a love of music that touched so many lives. We hope our listeners, presenters, and everyone who knew him will join us in remembering a truly wonderful man.
Thank you, Paul, for everything you did for Mersey Radio and for all the lives you touched along the way.
As the music fades and the microphones fall silent, we say goodbye with gratitude, affection, and respect. Rest peacefully, Paul. Your voice, your friendship, and your spirit will forever remain part of the Mersey Radio family.

Paul's funeral will take place Monday 22nd June 2026 at 11am
