We are delighted to announce that the inaugural will be hosted right here in Liverpool on Saturday 4th October.

Proudly celebrating those first on set and last to leave, it’s a day to spotlight the unsung heroes of the British film and television industry, the location managers, scouts, studio managers and unit managers that perform the vital groundwork that shapes the visual identity of every production.

And what better place to host this much-needed event than one of the city’s most sought-after film location – St George’s Hall. Bringing life to the likes of 'Peaky Blinders', 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' and 'The Batman' (amongst many, many others), through the years, the neoclassical gem right in the city of the city will provide the grandest of stages Liverpool has to offer.

Another day, another fantastic skills bootcamp! Liverpool Locations gave a brilliant introduction to all things locations at the ESTC - Emergency Services Training Centre where two cohorts of trainees got to experience hands on practical training and real film sets, as well as explanations of on-set etiquette and debunking lots of technical jargon. We hope to see you in a hi vis on set soon!

We welcomed creatives from BAME communities to Hardman Studios, facilitated by Producer Bea Freeman, to take part in a full day of film and tv careers workshops.

The day started with an introduction to the Action! training programme; presented by our Crew Development Manager and Crew and New Entrant Coordinator. 🎬

Chase Johnstone Lynch delivered a brilliant camera workshop, followed by delivering a fascinating editing workshop. 📽

And to top the day off, Bea offered an insightful CV workshop.

It was amazing to have so much creative talent in one space. 🤗

With special thanks to:

Imagine your first job in the industry being a Taylor Swift music video? 📹

Well for Dan, this was reality after taking part in our free to access skills programme Action! 🎬

We’re always pleased to see the Action! entrants like Dan who are eager and willing to learn, gain inspiration from new departments such as the props and dressing.

Since working on the I Can See You (Taylor’s version) video, he has received paid work opportunities on both House of Guinness and Fountain of Youth.

Sharing advice for new entrants he says “Don’t be shy in asking questions, you’ll be remembered.”

Meet Lilly, our 2024 Action! entrant who originally got in touch with the Film Office when she was just 16 years old, at the time studying film and media at A-Level. 🎥

We provided Lilly with a list of local production companies that could help at the time, so we were delighted to see that Lilly was still keen on working in the industry when she applied for Action!

Through the programme, Lilly worked on Fountain of Youth and learnt about ‘wet downs’ – where film crews make roads look like it has just rained. 🌧️

As Lilly said, all it takes is for one little thing to happen, and the rest will fall into place.

Good luck with your future endeavours, Lilly. 👏
