AN iconic piece of Liverpool’s heritage is making a comeback as work progresses to reinstate the historic Queensway Tunnel monument at its Liverpool entrance.

The monument – originally designed in the early 1930s by Herbert Rowse, the architect behind the Queensway Tunnel – was removed in the 1960s following major road layout changes around the tunnel entrances.

Its return marks a celebration of the city’s transport history, combining modern engineering with Rowse’s Neo-Classical and Art Deco design legacy.

The reinstated monument is part of a broader plan to create an inviting and accessible space for the public to enjoy.

The project is scheduled for completion in late 2025.

PLANS for the £100m Liverpool Baltic Train Station have been given the green light.

The station is expected to stimulate further development in the Baltic Triangle district.

Work is set to begin on highways improvements at Liverpool Baltic station later this year before construction of the station begins in early 2026.

The target date for the opening of the station is the end of 2027.

The station, set to be located on Merseyrail’s Northern Line, will serve one of the city’s most dynamic districts, that was named the 11th coolest neighbourhood in the world by Time Out magazine in 2023.
