Today, members of our Technical and Marketing Teams visited the City of Glasgow College’s Riverside Campus to host our annual Witherbys pop-up shop.

We connected with cadets and staff, learning about their courses and training as well as showcasing our extensive range of nautical publications, designed to support them throughout their studies and careers at sea.

Free copies of ‘Onboard Safety’ written and published by Witherbys with Gary Ritchie, Master Mariner BA (Hons), FNI, were offered to entry cadets who visited the stall throughout the day. 🚢

We will soon be visiting the Fleetwood Nautical College and South Shields Marine School’s campuses as well. Be sure to keep an eye out for us and stop by to say hello. 👋🏼

📢 SOMS Navigation and Aids to Navigation (AtoN) Questionnaire

Following August’s announcement of the review of underkeel clearance (UKC) requirements in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS), Witherbys are assisting Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), particularly its maritime administration, who have issued a series of questions seeking the views and experience of mariners in the SOMS.

This questionnaire focuses specifically on navigation practices and the use, effectiveness and reliability of Aids to Navigation (AtoN) throughout the SOMS.

Yesterday our Commercial Director and Co-owner, Kat Heathcote Macneil, formally received her MBE at the investiture ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

Kat was recognised in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours for services to the People of Scotland, reflecting her outstanding contribution to culture, education and opportunity across Scotland.
