Always great to watch the shunt maneuver before the return run through the forest.

๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿš‚ Locomotives No. 1 โ€˜Talyllynโ€™ and No. 2 โ€˜Dolgochโ€™ double-heading across Dolgoch Viaduct during the 75th Anniversary Gala!

This double-header re-created the busy 1970s and 1980s periods, when passenger trains grew so long and heavy that two engines were needed to haul them up the steep incline out of Tywyn Wharf. A massive double blast of steam across the arches ๐Ÿš‚โœจ

๐Ÿš‚โœจ 3 1/2โ€ gauge GWR 57xx pannier tank engine running at the Pembrokeshire Model Engineers track in Milford Haven.

This miniature steam locomotive looks absolutely amazing winding its way around the circuit!

Seeing these two industrial steam locos powering up the line through the Forest of Dean was an absolute highlight of the weekend.

No. 3 โ€˜Sir Haydnโ€™ departing Dolgoch station as her iconic Railway Series alter ego, Sir Handel! ๐Ÿš‚๐ŸŽญ

Rev. W. Awdry was one of the Talyllynโ€™s earliest volunteers, using the railway's real-life engines to inspire his famous Skarloey Railway stories. Bringing Sir Handel back to life for the 75th Anniversary Gala was the ultimate nod to how closely real preservation and childhood nostalgia are intertwined here โœจ
