🎥🎨In our second episode of the series MY ARTIST STORY, we meet Violet, an artist whose work explores grief, healing, and transformation. Inspired by Egyptian mythology and the symbolism of the underworld, Violet’s art reflects her emotional journey, from darkness and loss to colour and light.

Filmed in the Artbox London studio and at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, the film captures Violet’s creative world and personal story.

🎬 MY ARTIST STORY is a short documentary series profiling learning disabled and neurodivergent artists from Artbox London, highlighting their unique voices and creative practices.

ELIO: A DRAWING IN STEEL 🎬🚴‍♂️ Our latest short film captures the essence of Elio, a bike born from steel, craft, and motion

Shot in collaboration with DOP , the film moves between the Pegoretti Officina in Verona, where every frame is handcrafted with soul, and the winding climbs of Lessinia, where Elio comes to life on the road.

Named after the first child of Pegoretti artisan Leonardo, Elio is the product of months of refinement. It’s built not by machines, but by hands that know steel.

Full documentary coming SOON 🎥💫

Our new documentary for uncovers the dazzling creativity of 14th-century Siena - a city where painters, sculptors, metalworkers, and architects sparked a transformation that changed Western painting forever.

At the heart of the exhibition, ‘Siena: The Rise of Painting 1300–1350’, are four visionary artists:
👑 Duccio di Buoninsegna, whose majestic Maestà for Siena’s cathedral reimagined the divine in gold, pigment, and human tenderness.
🏛 Pietro Lorenzetti, who brought sacred stories into the here and now, placing the Virgin’s birth in a Sienese bedroom.
💭 Ambrogio Lorenzetti, a painter-philosopher, who dared to depict the effects of good and bad government on civic life.
🌍 Simone Martini, whose courtly style and powerful storytelling would echo across Europe from Avignon to Prague.

Their work tells of a city alive with spiritual devotion, political ambition, and artistic experimentation. Pilgrims, bankers, and civic leaders all shaped Siena’s artistic landscape - and its artists, in turn, shaped the visual culture of Europe for centuries.

You can visit the showstopper of an exhibition, ‘Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300-1350’, at the National Gallery until 22 June 2025.

To accompany the National Gallery’s current exhibition Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300–1350, Storya produced a documentary that delves into the heart of Siena - its streets, sacred spaces, and enduring artistic legacy.

Filmed throughout the city, from the Duomo to the Palazzo Pubblico, the documentary reveals the cultural vibrancy that fuelled a golden age of Italian art. In collaboration with the National Gallery’s curators, we crafted a narrative centred on artistic innovation, spiritual devotion, and the spirit of collaboration in 14th-century Siena.

With the support of the Comune di Siena and guided by local voices, we filmed contemporary artisans who preserve centuries-old techniques, highlighting the living legacy of Sienese craftsmanship.

The film will be screened at the Palazzo Pubblico for the duration of the exhibition.

You can visit the wonderful exhibition, ‘Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300-1350’ until 22 June 2025.

While in China, filming Bosco Sodi’s exhibition at He Art Museum, Storya visited Nanfeng Ancient Kiln, where bricks for Bosco’s site-specific installations were fired. Crafted from locally sourced raw clay, these bricks underwent a wood firing process that exposed them to varying temperatures. The resulting natural ash created unique colours, textures, and glazes on each piece. This organic interplay between craftsmanship and natural elements embodies Bosco’s creative philosophy, celebrating chance and materiality.

Nestled in Foshan, Nanfeng Ancient Kiln has been in continuous operation for over 500 years, making it one of the oldest working kilns in the world. At its heart is a remarkable dragon kiln - a long, sloping structure built into a hillside, allowing heat to rise efficiently and fire ceramics at different temperatures along its length. This traditional technique has been passed down through generations, shaping the region’s renowned ceramic heritage.
