, has launched a £350,000 fundraising campaign to open the UK’s first domestic violence refuge for Black women and children.

They have purchased a large building and the land it sits on to open the ground-breaking refuge.

The charity’s founder, Ngozi Fulani, says they are one step away from finally opening the refuge and are now fundraising to cover the operating costs to staff the house.

Fulani says her “safe space” will help stop Black women and children – who are victims of domestic violence – being continuously failed by the system.

Speaking exclusively to The Voice, she said: “We’ve got the house. We’ve got the refuge. We bought it. We own the land it stands on. We’ve had it for over a year, but we can’t afford to open it just yet.”🙏🏾
