I don’t care how this may sound, but I need to be very clear with you.

If after my husband and I sacrifice our time, money, and resources to send you to nursing school, you decide not to practice, you will personally look for how to pay me back. I am not joking, and yes, I am keeping receipts. Every sacrifice will be accounted for.

This is not a joke, not a threat, and not something to be taken lightly. Nursing school is not cheap, and it is not for decoration. We are investing in your future, not funding a trial-and-error decision.

And if you finally get married and your husband suddenly asks you to stop practicing, Jesus in heaven will have to come down and explain that decision himself, because that excuse will not fly here. Education and a career are not things you abandon because of marriage or pressure.

I am putting this out here now just in case it ever happens, so it will not look like I did not warn you on time. There will be no “I didn’t know,” no excuses, and no emotional stories later.
Do not disappoint me.
Do not waste this opportunity.
Do not take our support for granted.
This is your future. Treat it with seriousness.
