The debut book by Jade Smith Jade Smith, designed by StudioSmall, In the Middle of Becoming is a photographic journey through time, place and personal transformation. This body of work began not as a planned project, but as an instinctive response to travel and connection to a place. At its core, it is about learning to see, to truly look at others, at ourselves, and at the fragility of life. The project began in Nepal, serving as the emotional and conceptual foundation of the work, before extending into Thailand and Vietnam.

Mustafa, the new book by Olgaç Bozalp, will be presented at Bildband in Berlin, along with a live conversation hosted by Kate Schultze. Olgaç will reflect on the importance of this long running personal project, and what has gone into making it.

Mustafa is published by Guest Editions, designed by Tom Booth Woodger and includes a written essay by Dalia داليا. It is the result of 10 years work and an expansive personal journey through 14 countries and the predominantly Islamic regions of South West Asia and North Africa.

This voyage, ignited and deepened by countless moments of connection with fellow SWANA citizens, eventually saw Olgaç embrace his once-discomfiting, given, middle name – Mustafa – as a chosen emblem of his self-hood.

It’s this entire self – Mustafa-Olgaç – that imbues this photographic journal with palpable curiosity and ease; that captures subjects, living and man-made, with an expansive yet personal conceptualisation of the beauty extant beyond the western gaze.

We have an available desk in the studio.

It's a large space with plenty of light in the corner of Hackney Downs Studios | Creative workspace. As well as being a studio space it is used as a gallery and retail space with rotating exhibitions and launch events on an (approximate) monthly basis.
