Sierra Leonean Businesswoman Wins International Award in Morocco

A Sierra Leonean entrepreneur has won the Best Female Outstanding Business Owner of the Year 2025 at the Dr-Olubogu Ifeanyi Petwise International Community Leadership Awards – LMA Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.

The winner dedicated the award to her late parents, Mariatu Oya Kamara and Lt Colonel Alhaji Alpha Saba Kamara Snr & Jnr, as well as other loved ones. She described the recognition as a moment of gratitude for life, growth, and making impact.

She also acknowledged the support of her partners, including Asmok Foundation (formerly Alpha Saba Kamara Foundation) and her team at Anaya Hair and Beauty London.

The entrepreneur thanked her designers and creatives who helped her prepare for the ceremony, including Italian fashion designer Sylvie Mbarga (Maison SMF) and videographer Mlexsongz, also based in Italy.

She said the award is not just a personal achievement but also a recognition of Sierra Leonean talent and resilience on the global stage.

The visited GTI Dorma in Kono, now a modern hub for skills training thanks to EU & BMZ support.

– 2,000+ youth trained in technical skills
– 5,300+ trained in entrepreneurship (60% women)
– 500+ apprenticeships created
– 3 new workshops & modern facilities built
