When I get a chance to put a team together, better know I’m going to do my best women get that spot. Believe it or not I’ve had people tell me I’m the first female videographer they have ever seen. That tells you how little representation there is, so having 4 women in one team is definitely rare! THE RULES
1. Don’t speak to or distract a videographer when you see they are clearly recording
2. You can make suggestions but not demands. Stop pressuring us after we say no. We might be working but we too want an enjoyable experience
3. DO NOT WAVE YOUR HAND IN FRONT OF THE LENS!
4. DO NOT TOUCH OUR EQUIPMENT! You can ask, look but don’t every touch unless you’re given the permission
5. if you need to get our attention to get a shot, try find the most respectful way to do it. No aggressive or constant tapping on the shoulder
6. Remember the chance of your video or picture making the cut is very small so there is literally no need to ask event videographers and photographers for pics because that’s extra work you will never see again.

Filming and creating has been a passion of mine since I knew how to work a camera. I was filming and editing short comedy skits and horror films with my siblings when I was 9/10 years old and even edited stop motion animation of play Mobil using a we**am and uploaded it to YouTube in 2006. I have a strong feeling my grandpa is the reason I love to film so much, he passed when I was very young but I still remember him well and he filmed my mother and her family growing up in the 70s. I always thought that capturing moments and memories is actually so special, so i simply just have an undeniable love for what I do. And I want people to know that although it’s great to work with amazing artists and creatives. In my world I am the artist of my creativity and that’s what I prioritise over feeling validated for my work because the person I shot is famous. I want people to like the work because they think it’s good. I’ll keep using that to fuel my self improvement and aim to be better than the previous version of me. I hope you enjoyed my essay but I think it’s important to share the authenticity behind all of the final results. I hope you appreciated this post. K bye
