A customs officer once gave me four hours to rebuild an entire TV drama shoot. That's when I learned what actually gets you through moments like that.
In my TV production days we were on location abroad when a customs officer refused to release a key production design piece we'd shipped over from the UK - no negotiation, it simply wasn't coming through. That one decision meant rewriting parts of the story, reshaping parts of the shoot, and restructuring the schedule around what we could actually tell without it. Four hours to work it all out.
What got us through wasn't confidence I'd built in advance. It was knowing exactly who I could call if the choice I made turned out wrong.
