Child s*x offender jailed for 16 years after victim came forward more than a decade after abuse
A man has been jailed for 16 years after s*xually assaulting a seven-year-old child in abuse dating back to 2011.

Shannon Leigh Newth, 38, was sentenced on 18 October 2024 and was also handed a lifetime restraining order, South Wales Police confirmed.

The victim had carried the abuse for more than a decade before reporting what had happened in 2023.

According to police, seeing a Facebook post on South Wales Police’s social-media channels about a similar case prompted her to finally come forward.

Her disclosure led to a police investigation and ultimately to Newth being brought before the courts for the historic s*xual offences.

Investigating officer Detective Georgia Davies praised the victim’s courage and acknowledged how difficult it had been for her to disclose what happened after so many years.

Police described what the child endured as a dreadful experience at an age when she should have been able to enjoy her childhood.

Det Davies said the case demonstrated that the passage of time should never discourage survivors from reporting s*xual abuse.

Newth is now serving the 16-year prison sentence, while the lifetime restraining order provides continuing protection for the victim.

South Wales Police urged anyone who has experienced s*xual assault to come forward, stressing that reports can still be investigated even when offences happened many years previously.

Sarah’s Law: Parents, carers and guardians in England and Wales can ask police whether someone who has contact with a child poses a known s*xual risk through the Child S*x Offender Disclosure Scheme.

Jealous and possessive husband jailed after dragging wife from taxi and leaving her bruised in the street

A jealous and possessive man was jailed for two years after dragging his wife from a taxi, grabbing her around the neck and throwing her to the ground following a night out.

Jason Ranford, a former nightclub manager, attacked his wife, Paula Schrock Ranford, after becoming enraged when he saw her wearing another man’s gilet during an evening at Kioki nightclub in Swindon’s Old Town.

Swindon Crown Court heard the couple had been drinking with friends on May 1 when Ranford’s behaviour became increasingly aggressive.

He verbally abused his wife, calling her degrading names, before the violence continued after they left the nightclub.

Mrs Schrock Ranford later told her sister that Ranford had pulled her from a taxi, grabbed her around the neck and thrown her onto the floor.

She was left with significant bruising around her neck and a black eye.

Ranford later admitted what he had done in text messages to his wife, acknowledging that he had dragged and pulled her from the taxi and left her injured in the street before apologising.

Mrs Schrock Ranford replied:

“What you’ve done to me is truly horrific.”

But despite apologising, Ranford then attempted to blame his wife for his behaviour, accusing her of flirting and again insulting her.

Ranford had already pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) when he appeared for sentencing.

At the time of the attack, he was also on licence from prison following a serious assault on a man in a bar.

Judge Keith Cutler CBE described Ranford as “very possessive” and said the bruising around his wife’s neck was significant. However, the judge accepted that Ranford had not throttled or strangled her, despite grabbing her around the neck.

The court was also told that Mrs Schrock Ranford did not support the prosecution and had not provided a statement. She wanted the marriage to continue and hoped they could rebuild their relationship.

His defence said Ranford had “lost his temper” and accepted that he had significant problems with alcohol, telling the court that once he began drinking, he struggled to stop.

It was also said to be his first conviction for domestic violence.

But the seriousness of the assault, together with his existing criminal history and the fact he was on licence at the time, resulted in an immediate prison sentence.

Ranford was jailed for two years.

Sentencing him, Judge Cutler said the violence had been “fuelled by drink” and told Ranford he suffered from feelings of “possessive jealousy.”

Clare’s Law: If you’re concerned about a partner or former partner and want to know whether they have a history of domestic abuse, you can make a request to police under the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme.

Kirkcaldy doctor struck off after domestic abuse conviction and fleeing country before sentencing

A doctor who worked at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for more than 13 years was struck off the medical register after being convicted of domestic abuse and twice breaching his bail conditions — before leaving the country and failing to turn up for sentencing.

Dr Ammar Abdulla Alrahow was found guilty at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on September 19, 2023, of one domestic abuse charge and two counts of breaching bail conditions. The Medical Practitioners Tribunal later recorded that Alrahow himself accepted that those were the three charges of which he had been found guilty.

Alrahow had worked at Victoria Hospital between February 2010 and October 2023. At the time of his arrest in September 2021, he was working there as a Clinical Fellow in Urology.

After his convictions, sentencing was postponed until October 16, 2023. Alrahow surrendered his Irish passport as part of his bail conditions, but instead of returning to court, he travelled to Iraq using an Iraqi travel document. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.

His conduct then came before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal.

The tribunal considered not only his criminal convictions but his decision not to attend sentencing, together with what it described as a persistent lack of insight and absence of evidence of remorse or remediation. It concluded that removing him from the medical register was the necessary sanction.

The official GMC register now records Alrahow as “Erased” following a fitness-to-practise panel hearing, meaning he is no longer registered to practise medicine in the UK.

Alrahow maintained during the regulatory proceedings that he had been unfairly convicted of domestic abuse and said that he considered himself the victim of an assault. However, the tribunal found the fact of his convictions proved.

His case therefore goes considerably further than simply facing a domestic abuse accusation: he was convicted in court, failed to attend his sentencing hearing after travelling to Iraq, became subject to an arrest warrant and was subsequently struck off the medical register.

Clare’s Law: If you’re worried that a current or former partner may have a history of domestic abuse, you can ask police for information under the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme.

We have received information that, in 2010, he was convicted of the s*xual assault of a 14 year old child and the further s*xual assault of another adult woman.

Ferrari’s legal representative stated his actions were due to him being in “quite a state through drink.”

Matthew Clarke, 40 years old of Lobelia Lane, Cringleford, Norwich

A Clare’s Law application is advised before having any involvement with this individual as he is a convicted domestic abuser.

Earlier this year, he was convicted of harassing his ex-partner by repeatedly walking past her home. We have also received reports that he was extremely violent during the relationship to both the victim and her children which has led to him no longer being able to have direct contact with them.

Clarke was sentenced to 2 months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and must also complete 260 hours of unpaid work alongside engaging with courses through the probation service aimed at stopping him from reoffending.

A 7 year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim and her children was also granted.

NORFOLK MAN DENIES REPEATEDLY WALKING PAST EX’S HOME

A man is to stand trial accused of repeatedly walking past the house of a woman over an eight-month period.

Matthew Clarke appeared at Norwich Crown Court after being charged with stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

The court heard the charge alleges that the 39-year-old repeatedly walked past his ex-partner's home at an address in Attleborough between February 18 and October 23 2024.

It is also said Clarke liked a TikTok video posted by the alleged victim and also then followed her on the platform.

Clarke, of Lobelia Lane, Cringleford, pleaded not guilty to the offence on Friday and a trial was put in the warned list for July 20 2026, meaning the case could take place at anytime within two weeks of that date.

Happy Suwali, 38 years old of Earlham Road, Norwich

A Clare’s Law application is advised before having any involvement with this individual as he is a convicted s*xual abuser.

He pleaded guilty to 3 counts of s*xual assault after a female customer came forward to report him for groping and touching her breasts, va**na & a**s during a massage.

During proceedings, Suwali’s counsel stated that he did not seek any s*xual gratification from his behaviour and only did it because ‘he thought he should’.

She also stated that Suwali suffered from ‘autism and learning disabilities’

Article from 01/05/26:

NORWICH MASSEUR SEXUALLY ABUSED WOMAN DRUING SESSION

A masseur who s*xually assaulted a naked woman during a two hour session at his home has been warned he faces a jail sentence.

Happy Suwali, 38, a self-employed massage therapist, advertised his services on social media sites, including Instagram, as ‘Happy Massage’.

He was arrested after a woman came forward to say she had been subjected to a prolonged ordeal where she was s*xually abused.

Norwich Magistrates Court was told she had been told to get naked apart from a small towel before a massage during which he groped and touched her breasts, va**na and a**s.

Simon Jessop, prosecuting, said: “The massage went on for some considerable time. She paid for 45 to 60 minutes but she describes it going on for almost two hours.

“She felt extremely uncomfortable because obviously she was in an enclosed area and didn't feel able to leave.”

In his online advertising Suwali boasted of providing “ultimate relaxation and wellness” Swedish and deep tissue massages using the tagline “elevate your spirit, nourish your body”

He has previously offered special promotions offering free massages to volunteers at his then home on Bowthorpe Road in Norwich.

The court heard the woman had responded to his adverts seeking a massage to relieve sports injuries on April 30 last year.

Suwali, who now lives on Earlham Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of s*xual assault.

Magistrates committed him to be sentenced at

Norwich Crown Court on June 22 after hearing the starting point of two years imprisonment was too great for their powers.

Mr Jessop said his actions had been a “serious breach of trust” as he was holding himself out as being a qualified masseur.

He added: “If you are setting yourself up online as a business that invites people around to your house where a s*xual assault occurs that crosses the line into the more serious category in terms of planning.”

Bethanie Mantin, mitigating, said he was an “extremely vulnerable individual” with autism and learning disabilities.

“Despite pleading guilty he states he had no intention of causing harm whatsoever,” she said.

“He says it was not for s*xual gratification. It was something he thought he should. I appreciate this seems like a bizarre statement to make but it should be seen within the context of his mental disorders.

“He does now accept that it was wrong and is deeply remorseful and sorry for his actions.”

Samuel Tobin - Ess*x

A man found with around 10,000 pictures and 444 videos on his phone, mostly showing women’s and girls’ feet, has been handed a suspended prison sentence after breaching an order designed to stop him taking such images.

Samuel Tobin, 31, of Westcliff, Ess*x, had already breached his s*xual risk order twice.

The order banned him from taking pictures of people’s feet without their consent.

But he has breached it three times since — in 2023, 2025 and 2026.

Basildon Crown Court heard he breached it again despite being banned from photographing people’s feet without their consent.

Many of the images showed girls in school uniform. A USB stick contained folders labelled by types of footwear, as well as one labelled “schoolgirls”.

Prosecutor Hollie Davies said another 28 USB sticks were awaiting assessment..

One image, showing a woman sunbathing in the privacy of her back garden, was dealt with as voyeurism.

The other images formed part of the case concerning breaches of Tobin’s s*xual risk order.

Police discovered the files during a spot check at his home in June.

He was found using his computer in his bedroom and grabbed his phone when an officer entered.

His phone gallery appeared empty, but officers found the pictures and videos in its deleted folder.

Tobin had previously been given community orders for his two earlier breaches.

Recorder Peter Clark sentenced Tobin to two years in prison, suspended for two years.
He must complete 120 hours of unpaid work, a “building better choices” course and up to 30 rehabilitation activity days.

A ten-year s*xual harm prevention order was also imposed, and he will be on the s*x offenders register for the same period

Martyn Hall - Kent

A Minster-on-Sea man has been jailed for ra**ng two children.

Martyn Hall, 48, was arrested in May 2021 the same day his offences against one of the victims were reported to the police.

During the course of enquiries, a second victim was identified and Hall was subsequently charged with several offences, including r**e and s*xual assault of a child.

While awaiting trial, Hall was made subject to an interim S*xual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Officers regularly checked his compliance with the conditions and, in August 2025, uncovered indecent images of children on his phone.
Hall was further charged with this offence and pleaded not guilty to all the indictments at Maidstone Crown Court.

He was convicted following a trial and sentenced on Friday 25 September 2026 to 15 years and 6 months’ imprisonment.

When he becomes eligible for parole, Hall will serve a further one year on licence.

He was also given a 15-year SHPO and placed on the s*x offenders’ register for life.
