“Your glow is not magic — it is nourishment.”
Here is a healthy recipe that can support healthy weight management, glowing skin, stronger hair, better digestion, and less bloating. No food can magically give “blemish-free skin” or a permanently “flat stomach,” but balanced meals with protein, fibre, vegetables, healthy fats, and enough water can really help your body look and feel better over time. The NHS recommends a balanced diet with fruit and vegetables, higher-fibre starchy foods, protein foods, small amounts of unsaturated fats, and 6–8 glasses of fluid daily.
Clara’s Glow & Balance Bowl
Ingredients
For one serving:
1 small piece of grilled salmon, sardines, mackerel, chicken breast, boiled egg, beans, or tofu
½ cup cooked brown rice, quinoa, sweet potato, or unripe plantain
1 big handful spinach, ugu, kale, or mixed salad leaves
½ cucumber, sliced
½ avocado or 1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small carrot, grated
1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, or ground flaxseed
A squeeze of lemon
Ginger, garlic, black pepper, and a little salt
Optional: plain Greek yoghurt or unsweetened soya yoghurt as a side
Method
Season your protein with garlic, ginger, black pepper, a little salt, and lemon. Grill, boil, or pan-cook with very little oil.
Place your rice, quinoa, sweet potato, or plantain in a bowl. Add your spinach or ugu, cucumber, carrot, avocado, and seeds. Place the cooked protein on top.
Finish with lemon juice and a small drizzle of olive oil. Eat slowly and drink water with it.
Why this helps
The protein helps keep you satisfied and supports healthy hair growth. The vegetables provide vitamins and antioxidants for skin health. The healthy fats from avocado, olive oil, fish, or seeds support skin and hair. The fibre from vegetables and whole grains helps digestion, which can reduce bloating. The BDA explains that healthy eating is about balance and getting different nutrients, not cutting everything out.
For skin, focus on “glow” and evenness rather than changing your natural complexion. A skin-supporting diet should include antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and whole foods; no food needs to be completely avoided unless it personally triggers you or a doctor advises it.
Simple daily drink for glow and digestion
Add cucumber slices, lemon, and a small piece of ginger to water. Sip through the day. Do not use harsh detox teas or slimming pills.
Best routine
Have this bowl for lunch or dinner 3–4 times a week, changing the protein each time. Walk daily, sleep well, drink water, and reduce very sugary drinks and heavily processed snacks. If acne, sudden hair loss, or weight changes are serious, it is best to speak with a GP or dietitian.
