The two performances come from the Amina Khan Dance Company. The first one, YOU&ME explores how some south Asian homos*xual individuals enter straight marriages for the sake of their families and then find love through extra marital affairs. The second one, BIRD examines the social taboo of women leaving situations of domestic abuse and the difficulties surrounding it. The Design Museum unveils the first large-scale exhibition in the UK to examine the contemporary Indian sari.🥻It brings together around 60 examples of trailblazing saris, nearly all on loan from designers and studios across India. Highlights include the first sari ever worn to the Met Gala, displayed in Britain for the first time — shown alongside saris made of woven steel and distressed denim. It presents the sari as a site for design innovation and an expression of identity and resistance today. Link in bio for tickets and more info.

Meet Poppy Jay and Rubina Pabani, hosts of the podcast Brown Girls Do It Too and now writers and performers in the Soho theatre live show, Brown Girls Do It Too: Mama Told Me Not To Come. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, they talk about s*x. Specifically, south Asian women having s*x. And they are freaking hilarious. In fact they are two of the funniest brown women in the UK. In an historic first, at Chelsea Flower Show, which opens today, award winning garden designer, writer and public speaker, Manoj Malde married his partner Clive Gilmor in the feature garden he designed for the flower show this year. Called the Garden of Unity it is sponsored by RHS and Eastern Eye and celebrates the richness in the unity of cultures, traditions and backgrounds as a thriving community space where gardening brings people together.
