I Don’t Believe Marriage is a Do or D+e Affair β€” Veteran actress Ngozi Nwosu recounts v+olent episodes in her marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has opened up about physical v+olence in her marriage, describing harrowing incidents during an appearance on the Real Life with Aunty Ayo podcast.

β€œI don’t believe that marriage is a do or d+e affair,” Nwosu told host Aunty Ayo, saying many people stay in harmful relationships for the sake of social media appearances.

β€œPeople will go on social and put pictures of β€˜he slapped me, he did this, he did that.’ My dear, if you see correct b+ating (laughs hard) correct pumelling, you won’t even remember social media and start struggling for your life.”

Recounting a v+olent episode, the actress said a dispute escalated after she told her husband she did not want to quarrel that day. β€œHe asked me a question and I said ’why Tunde please today is not the day of quarrel. I went to the kitchen to boil water, he just broke the kitchen door… I will never forget that day.” Nwosu added that as the altercation intensified she suffered a pΒ₯lled strand of hair that drew bl++d.
She described a moment of desperate self-defense, saying she armed herself with a pestle and struck the door in a bid to stop the attack. β€œI was ready to k+ll him that day, that I don’t mind going to jail, I picked the pestle and threw it to the door, the thing pierced through the door and he dodged. I was vibrating. My neighbours saw me naked,” she said.

Nwosu urged people to recognise limits in abusive relationships: β€œWhen this thing is too much, ọmọ, you’ve got to move. If you take it once, forget it, you must be ready to take it for the rest of your life.”

Her frank testimony adds to ongoing conversations in Nigeria’s entertainment circles about domestic v+olence, resilience and the difficult choices survivors face.

Kano Magistrate Court Orders Viral TikTok Duo to Marry Within 60 Days Over β€˜Immoral’ Videos

A Magistrate Court in Kano has ordered the Hisbah Board to arrange and formalize the marriage between two well-known TikTok personalities, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.

The directive comes after both creators appeared in viral videos considered β€œindecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board. The videos, which featured the pair displaying romantic affection, were said to contravene the state’s moral and religious codes.

Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali issued the order on Monday, warning that failure to complete the marriage within the specified period would amount to contempt of court.

The court further instructed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the implementation of the ruling.

Daily Trust reports that the two TikTokers had earlier been arraigned for allegedly creating and circulating obscene content online. Mai Wushirya was previously remanded after clips showing him and the female creator in compromising situations went viral.

Authorities maintained that the acts violated existing laws in Kano prohibiting the production and dissemination of s+xually suggestive materials.
