It's been a WHOPPING 4 years in a row performing at Deer Shed Festival !?!?! Thank you for always inviting this crazy a$$ uncle back everytime 🦈 🩶🖤🩶🖤🩶🖤🩶🖤

This year felt really resonant, as I always just see myself doing my weird kOOkY bits and entertaining the young little saplings as a performance but after talking to the kids / parents after my set who weirdly enough have enjoyed my set.
I remind myself that these kids might have friends or have children in their class who are of Asian descent. Who knows? Maybe they can see them doing more than just knowing karate or being related to jackie chan or other whack stuff i had to an a lot of other Asian kids had to deal with.

Being a POC performer navigating the comedy world, I very rarely feel SEEN or even understood by the industry and majority of the time, only feel loved by my peers and my communities. I always try and shake off all that icky stuff in general but as Edinburgh fringe looms I'm reminded of how BLOODY hard it was to receive reviews on a daily. Some excellent (the ones obviously written by women and the g**s cos they fockin get it) and some meh. There are also reviewers who are mostly old white cis men who have absolutely ZERO idea of what it is like to perform or have very little knowledge about culture / the intricacies of being poor n brown so are not fit to review tbh.
Nothing could have prepared me for the rollercoaster that was Edinburgh and how they favour of white cis performers are they were deemed more palpable, and even now I recognise who is for me and who is not for me.
Always remember lads if you POC , LGBTQ+ and working class and you feel like the this industry is not made for you, you are absolutely not alone. We out here doing the bits.

ANYWAY here is very nice review I got for my Soho Theatre show by Em Welton for exunt. I appreciate the very delicate words.
