When I first released my mixtape, I didn’t expect much. I remade Rihanna’s Umbrella into a Nigerian version. We only gave it to a few DJs.

Suddenly, it was everywhere. Nigerian radio was playing it. People were singing along. It shocked me.

That was my first real taste of success. It showed me that sometimes one bold step can change your life.

You never know what seed will take root. You just have to plant it.

Sometimes people forget history. They forget the sacrifices that built the foundation.

They see the success of today and don’t remember the struggles of yesterday.

Back then, we were pushing Afrobeats without the platforms, without the global awareness. It was harder.

But we did it anyway. We carried the sound across borders. We made the world listen.

So, when people call me a pioneer or a legend, I don’t take it too personal. I know my role in the story.

But I also know that new artists must tell their own stories. They are not here to retell mine. They are here to write theirs.

And that is beautiful.

At first, when we performed, nobody cared. I would shout, “Everybody make some noise!” and the room would be silent.

But we kept going. We believed in what we carried. Sometimes, belief is the only fuel you have.

Later, when people finally noticed, it looked like we blew up suddenly. But the truth is, we had been hustling for years in silence.

Sometimes one song can change everything.

“Shake Body” came out years ago, and I moved on to new projects.
But the song refused to die.
It came back stronger after ten years — like it had a life of its own.

When people started dancing to it again on TikTok, I didn’t plan it.
I just saw it blowing up and I thanked God.
That’s when I knew — no effort in life truly goes to waste.

Your work, your dream, your talent — it might sleep for a while, but it will wake up at the right time.
When grace touches it, it must shine again.

I have seen pain, and I have seen talent wasted. I watched how awards were denied, how recognition only came after death. It broke my heart to see someone work so hard, drop hits, and still not be valued while alive.

That taught me something powerful. Never wait for the world to clap for you before you clap for yourself. Never wait for others to approve your light before you shine it.

Because sometimes the same people who ignore your greatness will be the first to celebrate you when you are gone. That is the sad truth. So live now. Shine now. Celebrate yourself while you breathe.

When I talk about my father, I call him a serious man, not because he is strict, but because he is the one who provides, protects and shows me what true friendship means.

He has always been steady, and every lesson I carry comes from something he said or showed by example, and through him I learned that love can be firm and quiet.

Growing under him taught me to walk with dignity and respect, and that is why I say he is serious in love, serious in duty, and serious in care.

When you grow up in tough conditions, you often do not even realize it. That life becomes normal. You are not sitting there saying life is hard. You are just living. That is how it was for me.

It was only later that I could look back and see how tough it really was. But at that time, it was just life. That is the scary part, because many people live like that their whole lives. They are born into it, they raise their children in it, and they never get the chance to see anything different.

When I finally saw another side of life, it felt like two different worlds. That jump was shocking. But it also gave me clarity about how important it was to fight for a better future.

When Fireboy came into my life, it wasn’t just business. It was a calling.

A friend, someone who rarely ever calls me for such matters, told me I needed to hear this boy sing. The call was so unusual that I didn’t second guess it.

As soon as I heard Fireboy, I knew he was special. His sound, his writing, his soul — everything about him was undeniable. He came with a classic album that announced him straight into the game.

It wasn’t just music. It was destiny. That’s why I never doubted him for a second. Some artists, you just know, are chosen.
