AF447 / Airbus statement: "Airbus acknowledges the judgment delivered by the Paris Court of Appeal and the conviction of the company following the accident of Air France flight between Rio and Paris.

Airbus notes that the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal contradicts the submissions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the conclusions of the dismissal order issued by the investigating judges in 2019, as well as the submissions of the Public Prosecution at first instance and the acquittal judgment delivered in 2023.

Consequently, Airbus has decided to lodge an appeal with the Court of Cassation to allow for a judicial review of the legal questions raised by this case."

The Asiana brand will disappear in December, fully subsumed by former rival Korean Air, in the final chapter of their 6-year merger.

Korean Air’s owner, Hanjin Group, purchased a 64% stake in Asiana in December 2024. However, the airlines have maintained largely separate operations under the same parent company in the 18 months since then.

Now the boards of both airlines have approved a formal merger, to take effect on December 17, 2026.

Korean Air will absorb Asiana Airlines in December 2026, reshaping alliances, loyalty programs, award tickets, business class competition, and Asia travel.
