🗓️ February 21, 2025
📍 Kabul, Afghanistan → Delhi, India
A 13-year-old Afghan boy from Kunduz Province successfully hid in the landing gear of a Kam Air passenger plane departing from Kabul Airport to Delhi, according to reports by the Times of India and other Indian daily newspapers.
The boy reportedly entered Kabul Airport early on February 21 and concealed himself in the aircraft’s wheel compartment on flight RQ-4401. The plane flew for approximately two hours before landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
Upon arrival, the boy emerged from the landing gear and was found wandering beside the aircraft at 11:00 a.m. by airport officials, who questioned him about the incident. During the investigation, authorities discovered a small red speaker believed to belong to him, lodged in the landing gear. The aircraft was deemed unsafe during this period.
Following the inquiry, the boy returned to Kabul on the same Kam Air flight, which departed at 12:30 p.m. the same day.
Online reactions highlighted both astonishment and concern. Some netizens expressed amazement that the boy survived exposure to extreme cold and strong winds during the flight, while others criticized the security lapse at the airport.
The incident has drawn attention to safety protocols and the challenges faced by children in Afghanistan.
